We went to the Pickering Show today...freezing weather but loads of yummy lurcher
As usual I put Inca in the ring and even Dippy had a go...we got loads of oohh's and aahh's for her.
There was a fundraising event for the lifting of the lurcher hunting ban and loads of us joined in and donated. A big deal was made of this saying "lurchers should be able to do what they are bred for"...
Anyway, whilst waiting for her turn in the ring Inca caught sight of something small and furry moving about in the grass...so she did what she does best and caught it...it was a vole.
:- "
Her class was called so off I trot with her and her not wanting to got cos there was loads of the little mites running in the grass...so as we're doing the circuit round the ring Inca's going mad trying to get back to rodent catching.
As its my turn to go up to the judge, he's asks why she's so skittish...so I explain and he has a right go at me about it. Telling me they are an endangered species (I didn't know this and told him so) and he carried on having a go.
So I told him "its small, its hairy and its moving and Inca's doing what a lurcher does naturally...does she (or me) know its endangered...no"
I then went on to say "anyway isn't today about getting funds together so the ban can be lifted so lurchers can do what they do best??????"
He then grunts at me and then goes on to ignore me...his attitude really got me mad
The other lurcher owners thought she was fab
and even one owner tried to get her dog to catch one.
