Could not believe it yesterday, i was at the RSPCA in Putney, london with my puppy as she was due to have her 2nd jab, as usual there i waited over 2 hours to been seen

Whilst i was waiting there were 2 other people seated fairly close to me and i was wondering about the breed of there dogs i was almost sure they were pure pit bulls and them i heard them both chatting the reason i was listening is because i heard the woman say to the man next to her that also had what defo looked like a pit pull pup, ' this is one of my pitbull pups that i have breed and i have been trying to sell them on K9' she said to him she said ' oh i'm not haveing much luck because they are so strict on there. Well my ears really pricked up then, and he said to her " yeah and held his dog up and said " this is pure pit too , a woman who was with him nudged him and said to him don't say that be quiet".

I was :rant: how the hell are they getting away with it they are trying to palm them off as staffies, no way you can clearly see what they are, it's swarming with them where i live and some of them are off leads it's very scarey i really worry when i take my lot out cos they just wont stand a chance, which is why i put them straight in my truck and we walk else where.

No one seems to be doing anything about it i have seen the police just walk by them and do nothing :rant: it's all wrong they are a BANNED DOG!!!

Does anyone else have this problem where they live?

No but all pitbulls are banned - trouble is though its easy to 'prove' a pitbull isn't a pitbull, just a bullbreed cross

NO THAT'S RIGHT THEY ARNT ALL BAD AND I'M NOT SAYING THAT, BUT IN THE WRONG HANDS THEY ARE KILLING MACHINES THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM THIS COUNTRY AND WHERE I LIVE MOST OF THEM ARE IN THE WRONG HANDS, THEY ARE NICK NAMED (THE LAND SHARK) DONT THINK THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN THAT NAME FOR NOTHING.

CANT UNDERSTAND IT, WHO WOULD WANT TO OWN A DOG THAT THEY KNEW COULD KILL THEM IF IT WANTED TO.

MY SON WAS ATTACKED BY A PIT PULL ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO SOMEONE HE KNEW SET IT ON HIM AND MY SON KNEW THIS DOG MY SON SAID THE DOG REALLY DIDNT WANT TO DO IT BUT THE OWNER KEPT ON AND ON AT THE DOG TO ATTACK HIM AND WAS BEATING HIM THEN THE DOG SWITCHED AND MAULED MY SONS ARM. MY DANIEL IS NOW SCARED FOR LIFE, HE HAD TO HAVE AN OPERATION ON HIS ARM COS THE DOG TORN THROUGH HIS TENDONS HE IS STILL HAVEING PHYSIO ON IT NOW :rant: (THIS IS WHAT A PIT DID THAT KNEW SOMEONE)MY SON SAID THE DOG WAS HOLDING BACK, GOD KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENENED IF THE DOG DIDNT KNOW MY SON.

I LOVE ALL DOGS BUT SORRY THIS IS NOT RIGHT.

my mums hair dressers friend had a staffy well thats what she thought and one day her little boy was glimeing over the stair gate and the dog just grapped him and pulled him off and tore the little boys ball bag open paw kid so she had the dog put down but after the dog was but down the vets discoverd that the staffy was actually a pure bred pit bull. terrible :angry:

OMG what a terrible thing to happen how is the little boy now? i hope he is ok.

The thing is they dont look nothing like staffs, dont know why people are mistakeing them, i can understand the ones that are cross bred pit staff but the pure pits are totally different.

When i mentioned sharks slippy it was because that is what they are nick named THE LAND SHARK think that says it all really dont want this to get in to an argument.

And at the end of the day the breed is BANNED IN THIS COUNTRY!!! so these attacks should not be happening to people and other dogs.

Just this morning i bumped into my friend who has one of the lurchers i bred and she told me a pit got hold of her b itch and punchered her legs where it was trying to bring her down but lucky enough the lurcher got free and ran like hell and the pit could not catch her and gave up.

This is how bad it is where i live.

They put 2 pits in the lifts and send them up and fighting.

Again i am not saying they are all bad dogs i know most of the time it is the owners but also it is what they are capable of doing this again is why they are banned.

I understand what your saying but they have been band from this country and other countries for a reason! Sharks are a different matter.

Yes mainly for betting but also for fun.

I know it's sick isnt it, but unfortunetly that's what goes on here, also there was a house near where i live that was rented out to fight the dogs in but that's stopped now the police thankfully arrested all involved they got prison sentences and the poor dogs were PTS the house is now boarded up with big iron gates and doors so others can't get in and try to do the same thing

the differance is we dont keep sharks in out homes as pets. im with u that not all pits are bad dogs, i have always believe in judge the deed not the breed but the fact of the matter is pitbulls are banned in this country.

I don't like the sound of where you live at all! I haven't seen a pit bull in years. The last one I knew was owned by a friend and she was the nicest, softest dog you could ever meet...again, its down to the owner.

100% Right blame the deed not the breed. I think a lot of people get bull staffs and Pitt Bulls mixed up and thats why Pitbulls get the blame of a lot of attacks. In the case of the dog attacking a child / human I agree it should be PTS.

It's not a nice place to live at all i'm afraid i have been trying to move for years this area now is on the boarders of becoming a NO GO ZONE honestly it is that bad we even have our own police station on the estate and at the south western magistrates court in Battersea south london they have their own court room and judge just for this estate, how bad is that. It's crime ridden here which is why i can't wait till the gamefairs are up and running again so i can get away from it here only thing is i hate coming back

I feel for you Clare, I really do. I have a cousin who lives on a similar estate and its just miserable. No-one should have to live amongst these people and be subjected to the daily occurences of violence.

I hope you get out soon.

Pit Bulls aren't born bad any more than any other dog, and in America they are commonly kept as family pets, but they are illegal here* so anybody who has one isn't likely to want one just as a pet. They are pretty much automatically going to be in the wrong hands.

I used to live just up the road from the Putney RSPCA clinic many years ago. The 'ard dog of choice on the Wandsworth estates in those days was the rottie. Unfortunately if you have owners who want their dogs to be vicious banning a breed does no good at all - they'll either flout the law or find another breed to ruin.

* actually that's not strictly true, it's illegal to have a dog which is a 'pit bull type' which means a dog that looks like a pit bull. It doesn't matter if it's a known cross of two other breeds with no Pit Bull in it's breeding at all, if it has certain physical characteristics it can be classed as 'type' and face a destruction order, as has happened to many dogs in Liverpool. The law as it stands is completely stupid.
