I was just wondering if anyone uses Plaque off and if so did they see a difference?

Megan will not eat bones  I have tried brushing her teeth but no matter how softly I do it her gums bleed :( She had a dental last October but I see she has plaque building again already on her fronth top row of teeth :(

So I am thinking about trying Plaque Off.

I am a bit worried about the fact not to use it on a dog with thyroid problems :- She doesn't have thyroid problems or any signs of thyroid problems ,but imagine using it on a dog that has and you didn't know it had

Will she eat raw chicken wings? I find that one a day keeps the plaque away (for the dogs, that is :clown: )

I've never used Plaque Off but wonder if it's similar to the myriad of products on the market for human use, all of which can do long-term damage to the enamel on our teeth

I bought Plaque Off after it was recommended to me by a friend. It was quite expensive, but you use a very small amount. I must admit that I didn't keep it up, and the pot is still sitting there. I too was a bit worried about the thyroid thing, as racing whippets that are very fit can be prone to thyroid problems - hence the thigh baldness. As one of mine has slight thigh balding, I didn't make the effort to keep it up.

Now you've reminded me, I will use it on my oldies who have recently had dentals

I tried it with one of my dogs a while ago,i found it did,nt work.Like Jane,

mine had a raw drumstick a day,or wings. Then i use an electric toothbrush

once a week,

Amandaxx

I tried it but gave up. Mine have big meaty bones a couple of times a week, that sorts the plaque out. Have you tried Logic tooth paste, I found that good on an oldie who couldn't manage bones, kept it at bay for quiet s while. Or you can get a dental scraper, but you have to get your dog used to it.

Chicken gives her an upset stomach  So the raw chicken wings might really upset her tum :(

That is a worry about the enamel thing never even thought about that Jane :-

I have tried Logic toothpaste and every time I have used it she is sick ten minutes afterwards  It's a pity she won't chew the bones. I have tried marrow bones and knucke bones and she gives them a couple of licks and then walks off!!

I was thinking of the electric toothbrush myself Amanda, maybe her gums wouldn't bleed as much with the electric toothbrush going around in a circular motion. I have one for myself I shall maybe buy another soft head and put it on and try it on her. I will need to mark her one as don't fancy mixing them up and using it on myself after it's been in her mouth (w00t)

I did google the Plaque off and it has mixed reviews

I'm reading this with interest, I have real problems with Jess's teeth - they were in a horrible state when she came to me and she had to have 17 out in one go (poor girl was only about 8 yrs old :( )

She can't manage bones with the teeth she has left, and although I clean her teeth regularly she's starting to build up plaque again and her gums aren't great either, she's probably going to need antibiotics and another dental unless I can find something to help.

Several people have recommended Neem Bark Powder, so I've just bought some to try - it looks at the very least as though it won't do any harm and some people have reported very good results. Too early yet to know if it will help Jess, but fingers crossed!

Please let me know how you get on with this, as it might be worth me buying some too :-

Will do, though I'm told it takes a few weeks before you start to see any results

I used plaque off for a while and I think it did have some effect. They say it softens the tartar - so the dog still needs some toothbrushing or chewing to remove the softened deposits.

Straying off teeth! I wonder if neem could help cure my daughters toe nails, she has a fungus infection on two of them.

Back to teeth, carry on. lol

There is a homeopathic remedy called something like Fragaria. It is supposed to be very good a friend of mine used it for an oldy she had with good results. I think Dorwest Herbs sell it and can advise how best to give it

I have used Fragaria on a 15 month whippie I aquired who's teeth were brown with tarter.

This was reccommended by my vet!!! Best advce as it only cost about a fiver for 100 tablets

She had 1, once a day for 4 or 5 weeks which did loosen the tarter,I then brushed her teeth once a week also.

There was a significant improvement so I gave her 1, once a week with weekly brushing with Logic.

She never had pearly white teeth but it did keep the tarter at bay.

I havn't had to use Fragaria again on another whippie as I use Logic tooth paste but would try it again if need be.

Like anything, what works on one dog may not on another but it was the best £5 I have spent.

Chris

I have tried Fragaria but didn't notice any difference :( Maybe it comes in a stronger strength than I bought :-
