I have a 3 yr old Jackapoo who whines at the back door. we go to open it and she goes outside and barks in a super excited way in circles and then when you have closed the door barks to come back in.
this happens always when we are eating in the kitchen and she can do it 10 times. it drives us crazy as we are trying to eat and i really don't want the neighbours to be annoyed by the unnecessary barking. we tried to ignore her and after 20 mins she stops whinning and lies on door mat by kitchen door. but when we did this over a few days she then did a wee in the living room. please can anyone suggest anything.thank you

Not sure why she is doing it but it sounds like a habit. To break the pattern, instead of putting her outside while you eat could she be in another room, maybe with a baby gate rather than a closed door so she doesn't feel shut out? Or if she is crate trained, could you use that?

I would also give her something to occupy her so she isn't thinking about barking, like a frozen Kong.

There are YouTube videos by Kikopup to train both "settle" and to stop barking.

Any of these or a combination may help.
