Just had a thought !!!!!
Maybe they were scared of dog thieves and didn't want to let you know where they lived. You do hear of people turning up to see puppies and then they later get stolen.

Doesn't explain the not registering them though

that is a very good point and to illustrate it this has come to my notice today.

>Thought everyone that breeds should hear this, as a warning to be careful.

A friend had two pug puppies for sale, she had an enquiry and the chap wanted to come and see the pups on Sunday. He arrived and Sharon took him into the kitchen through her back door, he was very chatty, asking loads of questions and telling her about his Aunt that used to breed blue Chows.

After

he

had been there awhile he ask to use the bathroom, Sharon went through into her hall way to make sure her other dogs were shut in the lounge. In that few seconds the guy grabbed a puppy, ran out of the house to his car that was parked in a side road next to Sharon's. There was someone waiting for him in the car, and they took off at great speed. Sharon and her husband tried to stop them, her husband hanging on to the door of the car, but he fell off as they gained speed.

Sharon is devastated by this terrible event, and wants everyone to be

warned to be on their guard.

The guy apparently is quite smart looking, wearing a suit and tie, in his mid twenties about 5 foot 10.

It has of course been reported to the police, but I doubt that they will be able to do much

   Thats so bad news , those poor peps and that poor puppy , who knows wher e it will end up  :(

Bas   ds

Jakki you have made the right decision.

Best would be for you to contact some well known breeder so you know who are you dealing with. Contact the breed club, while the breeder's membership of a club does not give you a guarantee, at least you are dealing with a person known to other breeders.

Do you know this breeder's name and kennel name? You could call the breed club and ask them. In any case the club and the KC should know about this person.

Tessa got her Beau from Tasmania, but she got him from a breeder known to all of us here.

Couldn't they get his car's license number?

I take down all license numbers of cars when people come to look at pups (or anything else I maybe selling). I do it quite openly as I see them out.

Many thanks for all your thoughtful replies.. sorry I haven't got back to you all before now..

BeeJay, what a dreadful thing to have happened to your friend, not to mention the puppy.. who knows where, or how it is being treated.

I would think that knowing, from the breeder, the essential things such as, ie: What the puppy is used to eating, drinking.. how long has it been on solids, how the breeder has been toilet training it (I would imagine one would need to keep the basics unchanged because it may be all new to the new owners, but the puppy is entering different surroundings also, and will be feeling the loss of his/her sibblings etc..) All this is of paramount importance for myself and my husband; those kidnappers, for that is what they are, do not know the first thing about that puppy!

We have now found the most beautiful puppy girl.. we haven't picked her up yet, that will be later this week; ..andI will be sure to post photo's of her. She is simply gorgeous!

Many thanks
