I'd heard of Plummer terriers and wondered what they were like. Nice looking dogs, though I'd like to see them with natural undocked tails

what is their temperament like?

could you make any comparison with Jack Russells? (though I have to say I've observed a variety of behaviour among JRTs)

Firstly I use them for pest control on local farms so docking is just safer, easier and cleaner. I say this because if you look at the bitch on the right of the first photo she has a full tail. Now she hasn't suffered any tail damage as such but suffers with her tail more than the others. I have to keep her tail spotless otherwise she is more prone to hotspots/ skin problems on it.

Temperament wise they are generally very good. They enjoy a pack environment and are very friendly. I have 3 boys under the age of 3 so a good nature is a must. They are the same as most terriers and probably not as yappy and mad as Jacks can be. A huge generalisation though. As ever the Plummer Terrier varies some are full on some not. The ones I keep are nice and houndy for terriers and for me it does show through in their nature. Bottom line is they are a working breed of terrier so given the correct stimulation they thrive..

I wondered what they looked like. They used to be bred near to us, but I believe they have stopped now.

Cracking little dogs, I agree that tails are always nicer.

Gorgeous little dogs! We owned one of these a while ago, reared from Legion kennels.

Thanks again for the comments all!

What happened to your plummer tiggs?

Thanks. Wow! Harley looks a beautiful Ridgeback.

Lovely terriers, I like plummers, beautiful dogs. I have to say, though some people may disagree i prefer docked tails on a working dog.

wat lovely terriers! great pics!

and wat gorgous puppy.....!   scrumptious!!

3 boys under 3! I cannot imagine the fun. I had 2 under 2 at one stage and that was enough for me forever!

Thanks again all. Owen girl - We were 3 under the age of 2 originally and yes it is tiring! The dogs are my excuse to get out for as long as I can

Does that mean you have twins? If so I feel a bit better! I can still recall how tiring it all was. Dog walking my saviour as well.

Mine are currently 3 and 4 (4 year old turns 5 in 3 weeks time) which raises eyebrows if I have to give their ages at the same time.

Yes twins, born when eldest was 18 months old...
