I threw a ball for Jasper a while back which, with my dreadful aim, ended up in a large tree heather. And then of course, Jasper ended up in the bush too, and was engulfed in a cloud of pollen.

Shortly after, he was standing in a shady bit, doing what I think is 'reverse sneezing', and looking not too happy. I got him inside as it's hot out there and no doubt the pollen is still everywhere, but he's been reverse sneezing/wheezing for around 20 mins now. I took a vid - let's see if it's uploaded yet...

I'm keeping a close eye on him and am ready to give Piriton and/or phone the emergency vet (in case it looks like an allergy as opposed to a tickle up the nose), but just wondered if anyone else had any thoughts? It would make sense to wash him down as his coat must be full of it, but Jasper wouldn't see it that way... Actually I think it's easing, he just managed about 5 mins without a wheeze though he's started up again now...

If it was me I think I'd try the Piriton. It might make him a bit sleepy though.

Thanks @JoanneF. He's not wheezed for some time now so hopefully he's back to normal now. If he starts up again I will give him the Piriton. I don't like to think how out of date it is though...

Aw bless him, does look like an allergic reaction, could just be from that bush though and nothing else x

Thanks @Janer - he's been absolutely fine since then, so I think it was just the pollen particles irritating his nose, just as we would if going through a dust cloud.

The expiry date on the Piriton is some time in 2017. It should be fine... I have food in my cupboard with earlier dates...

Glad the emergency seems to over...they keep you on your feet, huh? We've got the Piriton on standby since one of ours has become obsessed with hornets. It's only a matter of time...
