Hello everyone,
So i have this situation, my dog is 10 months. I don't know what am i doing wrong with potty training him but its not working.
He is crate trained, he does not have any accidents when he is in crate. He can hold in pee when he is in crate. But when he is out he does it without any warning.
So today he peed in a room. I took him ouside he peed again...then he came back in room and in 5min he peed again. Like, i don't think it is normal? Is he marking teritory or something?
Some days are better where he does it only outside.

We have some helpful information here. Maybe use that as a starting point, but do shout out if anything is unclear or you think doesn't apply.

House training

Apparently my dog has not fully developed brain and hydrocephalus. That was the reason why it was so hard to potty train him

I know from one of my friends, that you can place a training pad on your floor where your puppy tends to "go" the most, and use positive reinforcement to continue the behavior when it uses the pad instead of the floor. Move the training pad closer to the door and eventually outside each day. Once the training pad is outside, place a heavy object (like a rock) to keep it in place. Make sure to praise your puppy whenever it uses the training pad or the ground outside. Eventually, your puppy will be comfortable going outside without the training pad. Remember, continuous and positive reinforcement is necessary for successful puppy training.

I'm sorry to hear this, Justikas - I hope you have a supportive vet who can help with your pup's challenges.

I think pads have their place for dogs who really can't go outside because of illness or similar, but for puppies, they give mixed messages about whether indoor toileting is allowed or not. And that causes confusion, and can slow the toilet training right down.

My pup is 9 months old now and the only accidents she has had in past 7 weeks has been when she had a bad tummy one night, once when she wanted out during night and I ignored her, and once when I took her out and she did a wee and I rushed her back indoors and she pooped (as I was WFH and had to go on a break to take her out)

With her it was a combination of things, I had 2 soft sofas that she weed/pooped on a lot even though I steam cleaned them, washed the covers (the cream covers with bleach) and soaked the foam insides with enzyme cleaner, it took getting new sofas for her to stop going on them, and originally I had pads everywhere as she had accidents in multiple places, I gradually just narrowed them down until I had 1 cleanable false turf pad which I put by the door at which point I decided one day to just take that away, it took about a week for her to stop having accidents in that spot but since then she hasn't had any intentional poops and wees indoors.

The only major difference now is she won't go in garden at all and only on walks.

He do not understand difference is there a pad or no. He is peeing in his place regardless where the pee pad is. So moving it closer to doors never worked. He is 1year and 1 month now and only way to prevent him doing business at home was to watch him closely for his "tells" and take him outside. It was going good with couple of accidents. But after his diagnosis he has to take medication for seizures which is hell, he pees so many times a day and even if he been outside and comes back to room and pees again. Hopefully it is temporary side effect of meds.

Have you used enzyme cleaner on the areas he goes? Else the smell even if you can't smell it will make him go there again.

watch him closely for his "tells"

Rather than that, have you tried taking him out every 90 minutes, whether he asks or not, so he doesn't get to the stage that he needs to toilet?

That is what we do now, because medicine makes him pee more and he does so without any warning

If he is drill having accidents, maybe take him out even more frequently?

As i already mentioned, i take him out he does his business and when he's back home after couple of minutes he decides to pee again. At this pont i should live in the garden on Tuesday we are taking him to the vet to do blood test to see if medicine is working fine and i will discuss this with him. Because i read that other people have same problem with this medication. Potty training goes out the window on them. But it had to go back to normal by now, so maybe they have to see the dosage or something.
