I been thinking about protien , am i right what i,m doing

my pup eats 3 meals aday ,

meal 1 chicken wing

meal 2 1/4 a chinesse tub of beta greyhound fed dry. i leave it there all day and night , she eats bits when she wants .but she does not eat it all at once i end up topping it up the next day

meal 3 1 lamb bone small, quite a bit of meat on it

plus water there all ways . now am i right in saying she gets the right amount of protien per meal,

so would this diet i,m feeding me pup be ok , on the beta greyhound it sats you can feed it as soon as they are eating , .

would some cod liver oil given once a day be good as well cheers savageboy :D

hi, i see u say ur feeding ur pup on 'beta greyhound food' wud u not be better giving it 'beta puppy complete food', as its protein is as high as the greyhound feeds but also contains added calcium and stuff that pups wud benefit from which the adult food doesnt contain??? other than that it all seems fine even the puppy complete on its own is ok aswell with the other bits as tit-bits

hi miss madame , it does say you can feed pups on it from when they starty to eat , but i do give her chicken wings and lamb bones for calicum ,

in beta greyhound it says calicu, 1.2% and in the iams puppy there,s is 0.8% so i think there should be enough calcium in there , would you think so or not cheers savageboy :D

I used to feed my pups (up to 8ish months) 3-4 meals a day the 4th being complete puppy food which I left down so they could eat it in between meals or at night if they got hungry.

If your pup looks ok on what you are feeding I expect it's fine but the puppy foods may contain extra ingredients that adult food doesn't? Just feed a bit more if pup looks like he needs it.

A bit of cod liver oil praps the one with garlic in (deters fleas & worms) would probably be a good idea 2 or 3 times a week.

I feed cooked chicken/rabbit/lamb + rice/pasta or biscuit to which you can add the cod liver oil and an egg every now & then but Lupin used to be a very fussy eater and isn't mad on raw meat. Zephyr my collie x lurcher was less fussy & ate virtually anything altho he's pickier these days.

Hope that helps altho I'm certainly no expert!!

Dont worry about protein in a pup just good food and plenty of it most important thing for a pup is calcium a good supply is essential imo for the dogs bones flesh is no problem and protein when they are doing it!
