Jasper's recent tummy troubles seem to have resolved, but as his 'normal' poos tend to be on the soft side, I'm going to try giving him some pumpkin puree. One suggestion for how much to give by body weight suggested he should have 7.4tsp a day, which seems quite a lot (he's 34 kg). Has anyone used it for a large dog, and how much did you give?

Don’t know about quantities but I make biscuits with it and they enjoy them

I give butternut squash to mine twice weekly. ..i roast it and then scoop out the inside ....my lurchers have 2 tablespoons each ...

I use pumpkin puree for my pups and older dogs; they love it. I would give about 5th of total food you are giving him. Measured by scoops or what ever, and on top of that put nice dollop of natural yogurt. Both yogurt and the pumpkin will stabilize his digestion; there is not amount that would be too much - well, within reason; teasoop more or less will not make much difference.

I steam pumpkin and give it to my dogs. I give about 2 tbsp of chunks to each dog. The big ones get 3-4 tbsp.

Thanks all - I froze a can of pumpkin puree in an ice cube tray, and am giving him a couple of cubes every couple of day. I'm also giving him YuDigest, and so far, so good

Yes! I did just bung it in with his normal food, but he was also happy to lick the spoon so must have approved.

When Piper has digestive upsets, I give her about a tablespoon of 100% pure pumpkin (from a can) once a day. This has always worked well for her over the past 9 years. She weighs 20 pounds so a little over 7 teaspoons for Jasper doesn't sound like too much to me.
