Bailey has just had his second jab on Saturday at 13 weeks old. I have been advised by my vets that I can walk him out in public places in 14 days time?? I thought it was usually 1 week after his second jab - its not a problem at all, although Bailey has loads of energy and I would love to take him out for a walk with Rocky but clearly don't want to risk him catching anything - just wondered what your views were..............................

Thank you very much in advance :D

My vet said 2 weeks after 2nd jab for public places where there would be alot of dogs being walked but Jinny was allowed to puppy classes (at the vets) only one full week after her 1st jab and she met plenty of other dogs and pups there

Think it's just a matter of being sensible about where you take them :- "

Thats great, its just a couple of people I have spoken to have said I could take him out a week after the second jab and wanted to double check! :) I will hold out, wouldn't forgive myself if he did catch something for the sake of a few more days.

Depending on the vet the advise differs from 1 week - 2 weeks. I usually wait about 10 days

I've always understood it to be two weeks after second vacination. :D

im sure its because your dog can pass it on but he wouldnt catch anything.

I have him out the next day if not sooner

..personally I would go with your vets advice regardless of what others may say. It also depends on which brand of vaccine that is used but I would play it safe ,especially as there have been pockets of parvo outbreaks everywhere. When we had our puppy sparky, we used to take her out in a rucksack with the other dogs so he could be socialised and get confidence when out., but also be safe with us off the gound!!! Sounds mad but it worked!

It depends on which vaccine regime your vets use..for Nobivac the regime is that the pup can go out 1 week after the 1st Vaccination, the whole reason for us using this particular vaccine is to get pups out and socialised ASAP. Although pups are safe to go out 1 week after the 1st vacc, it pays to exercise caution and not go to a VERY heavy dog area.

all my pups have walked out from day 1 they carry a strong parental immunity plus most dogs they would meet are immunised if i was avoiding anywere it would be the vets waiting rooms full of sick animals?
