I have the same trouble, with a 7 month old whippetxgreyhound, who's name we have changed to Trouble,as she's caused nothing but ,this last month. She is trying to chew her way into next door's garden, has somehow managed to reduce all my lead's to about 24 inches from 60,and torn to shred's just about everything she has got to in my shed. She constantly beats me out the pen gate before i can get it closed behind me,and has in the last few day's torn up my new lawn,by galloping around it at full pelt. But i love her to bit's ,and will put up with whatever come's next.No problem's exist between her 3 littermate's.So i think her racing name will have to be,Herecomestrouble. All this said,i am going to try a muzzle,if i can get one small enough.Whippet muzzle's are hard to get over here,so i am looking for an address, that i can order some from. ...Billy...

Clove oil tastes disgusting and is meant to be good in stopping them chewing.

I have also heard of people stuffing kong chews with food to occupy them.

I understand you don't want to crate her, but are they kept in one room when your out? One of mine howled when we went out, now all the dogs are shut in one room and they're much happier, the howling stopped.
