Puppy food - quality of ingredients Vs quality of stool

New puppy, 8 weeks old, was on IAMS at the breeder, and so we've been feeding IMAS since we picked him up.

We feel that there are other foods, with better ingredients - Fromm, for example.
But his IAMS poops are great - very firm, practically ideal.
Which leads me to believe that he digests IAMS very well.
On the other hand - he may be digesting not the best ingredients.

So, options are to leave things as they are, and stay with IAMS and good quality poops.
Or try switching to Fromm, see what happens, and if poop gets worse - switch back to IAMS.

Is the difference in ingredients worth switching? Is puppy food something that we can apply trial-and-errror method to, or better to stay with something that seems to work?
Maybe better ingidients are more important than soft poops?

I think it's a bit of trial and error.

We've tried different tinned foods with varying degrees of success. We always look at the label to check ingredients to make sure that the quality is of a certain standard.

Saying that with one of the most high quality ingredients tins we bought ended up giving her a poor quality of stool. In this there was only 100% pure ingredients ... I think from my memory something like 80% meat, 16% vegs and 4% minerals.

We've tried cheaper brands which she loves to eat and has normal stool afterwards.

I'd say if you want to change do so to see just as long as the ingredients are still of a certain quality.

I think I'd give him another week, say, to settle in, and then try changing him to Fromm very gradually - over a week or even two, gradually increasing the amount of Fromm. Then if you see any change in his poos, you can be fairly sure it's because it doesn't suit him so well rather than simply being a reaction to the change.
