I am back and can i just say... that all your doggies are absolutley gorgeous...

I am soon to become the proud owner of a Whippet bitch puppy and cant contain my excitement, will be having the pick of the litter in about 3 weeks. A surprise sprung on me by my other half :huggles:

I am a bit stuck on what to call her though... know its a little early but i want to be prepared..

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

Many Thankies

I usually wait until I find out what the dogs character is like and find a name to suit them saying that Tegan was given the name before we met her just liked it Rosie was Rosie from the minute she was born and OH decided if he had an irish setter it had to be Zoe

when we had a litter they were all given identifing names they were

Rosie

Mini

Tiddles

Thug???

Honey

Whinnie

and Joycee becasue she kept bitting my mother-in -law Joyce

Thank you both for your suggestions, i very much appreciate it...

I know the name will probably come to me when i see her but i'm in Whippet mode at the moment and 5 weeks seems like years away...

From what the breeder says the colours of the 3 bitches are:

1 x All Blue

1 x All Fawn

1 x Brindle

Ooohhhh i just cant wait :D :p

My new puppy bitch is called "Bon Bon", "Bonni" for everyday because OH thinks she's a wee sweetie! Good Luck whatever you choose. :luck:

Diamond is cute, but not sure my OH would agree... Haha. I really like that actually... they say a diamond is a girls best friend and thats exactly what she's going to be.

I had a name in my head last night and just came out with it whilst cooking his burnt tea!

It was........................

ZELDA

His face said it all... I love it though :b

What do you think????

I think thats nice it's so hard giving your pup a name, so many to choose from  good luck when you get her :luck: :luck: the wait must be killing you :sweating:

Like you wouldnt believe Lesley.. I am in Whippet mode and driving my OH mad!

I like Zelda used to ride a horse called Zelda a long time ago although a bit of a cart horse she was a lovely sweet natured horse

The right name will just come to you when you are doing something and not trying to thing of one at all. When we had to pick show names for our puppies they tended to come to me whilst I was at work.

Tip though if you think of a name you like right it down so you don't forget it

Thanks for the reply Oakmoorehill

Zelda is a great name - not very common.

It doesn't hurt to think of names you like (I love doing that) but the truth is it will probably all go out the window when you see her. Over the years I must have had a dozen names stored up that I said to myself at one time this is going to be the name of my next dog and then when the dog is born or when I get it, it just changes.

Here's some:

Delia

Darla

Zara

Zalee (Pron. Zah-lee)

Tabitha

Tahnee

Kimba

Demelza

Cora

Kali (pron. Kay-lee)

Sharni

Asha

Trixie (an old common dog's name - but not heard much anymore)

Couldn't agree more! I always wanted a whippet called Boo (Can you imagine shouting BOO!! in a park??!!) (w00t) Well I thought it was a cool name :b

Anyway Boo ended up being Nell because well she just looked like a Nell.

I like Zelda though :)
