Hi all,
My Rae (patterdale) has just had her first season. She started 27/01 and has recently finished.
She is very well socialised and is back to being off lead in our local park as she has done since 12 weeks.
She has snarled at quite a few dogs that she is usually friends with. Seems okay with the bigger dogs but not smaller ones‍♀️. Is this normal behaviour? Just don’t want her to turn into a snarler, especially her being a Pattie and all

Your bitch is now going through puberty & her levels of the sex hormones are high, Oestrogen, Progesterone & (oh yes) Testosterone are at their highest during this period, your bitch is acting in a defensive manner, the raising of lips is NOT agression, it is a warning that she is unhappy in the situation she is in.
She is in the Diestrus stage & this lasts until the time that she would have had her puppies(upto 63 days after she could have conceived regardless of whether she is pregnant or not) as the hormones wane if she is not pregnant.
