hello it is sharon and family we are still looking for a puppy whippet or italian greyhound please help thanks

What sort of puppy do you want??

Ie racing, coursing, show or pet?

Are you looking for a curtan (sp) colour or sex?

Do you want a ped or non ped?

How far are you prepared to travel?

Would an older pup be ok, ie 6 - 12 months, older?

There are lots of breeders on here, but you may have to put your name down for the more popular matings...

Pups or older dogs do come up all the time

good luck in finding the right pup,as i PM before Peter is mating a lovely bitch on Sunday,as its we be a while off(end of August time, hopefully)you might be lucky to find something before then.look in the WMNS regular as thats a good paper to look in.also it depends how far you are willing to travel??????have you contacted any rescue kennels to see if they got anything that would suit you and your family, also have you considered a retired or rescue Greyhound they can make lovely pets and companion.

I had a copy of WMN on my desk at work this morning. There were no Whippets, but the were Whippet X Lurchers in Hayle.

:luck: in your search for a pup.

Why do you say that? I have three whippet lurchers. One 19"- smaller than many whippets, and the other 2 a 22" and I have met quite a few whippets that height.

Hi Sharon

O E H meant she has 3 whippet lurchers. She wanted to know why you thought whippet lurchers would be too large when her's are a similar size to Whippets.

sorry we had a lurcher year agoand my sister

in law has one and they both were very big.

Olivia's right, a lurcher doesn't have to be a big dog....a whippet crossed with another breed is a lurcher, and will very often not exceed whippet size. My little rescue lurcher Piper was a whippet x 'some sort of terrier' (don't give me any of that 'wherrier' nonsense anyone), and smaller than the average whippet bitch.

Perhaps you could search some of the sighthound rescues? There are many many many lovely dogs awaiting the right forever home, and if you're not too worried about pedigree you might find the perfect whippie or whippie x is already out there waiting for you

Whatever you do, good luck and have fun with your new addition :luck: :)

Hi Sharon- sorry I thought I had been clear. A lurcher is purely a cross between any sighthound and any other working dog. A common cross is the beddlington X whippet and most of these are very small dogs, generally inder 21". Also many of the whippet X greyhounds are not much bigger than large whippets.

By the way- thanks Ponygirl and Mandy- that was exactly what I was trying to say, but obviously not as clearly as I had hoped.
