next time put your thermals on and it will be a lovly day

We had the sun shine were we were sitting Wendy it was nice. Thank Alexs for us , tell her Duke was looking for her today lol.

Congrats to all the winners

Well done all the winners, nice to see the younger generation of dogs coming along, they certainly looked impressive, must mention a well done to Billy Hughes with Bagheera seems like straight racing is her forte. Just think A,B,C,D,E and pups etc., makes for a to longer days racing especially for those who are working and those of us who have a long journey home.

The puppy champs was always going to make a long day when raced in conjunction with an ABCDE meeting, ABCDE racing format means each dog has to race twice in order to compete at least and if cross heats are needed by the amount of entries then three times is not uncommon.

Maybe next time a normal run of the mill weight class event with only the winner of each race going forward would cut the time down for the racers and workers, just an idea on working the puppy champs meeting.

i must agree what a long day .but what a turn out only good to see so many dogs and got to be good for the sport

It seems to be swings and roundabouts with this event. This year appears to have had a good turnout of especially yearlings and with a large number of adults racing on the ABCDE format.

However we attended this event when held at Worcester last year and the turnout was even smaller with approx 4 dog/bitch pups each and around 18 yearlings with only a handful of dogs for the ABCDE.

Admittedly not an ideal format if there are a lot of dogs and a lot of races to get through as it does make for a long day especially at this time of year but conversely it is a different format to the majority that are raced on these days and does make for a pleasant change.

I think if the day looks to be a long one then it is up to the racers not just the organisers to be prepared for their races well in advance to minimise the amount of "faffing about" that can take place at the traps. I'm sure we are all aware that there is a BWRA rule stating that dogs must be in the trap area, jacketed up AND muzzled two races prior to their own.

If you see someone struggling with two or more dogs in consecutive races offer them a hand  .

it was a long day leaving here @ 5.45am and not getting home till after 10pm but we thouroghly enjoyed ourselves, but maybe like john m dont have this format @ pup/yearling champs but do have abcde racing on @ other times as IMO it makes it much more intersting than the usual.

I know what you mean about faffing about. In both Belle's race's they were telling us to get the dogs in and meet the lure coming down but some people just stood there saying the lure wasn't behind the trap yet.

It was a really good day but did seem to take a long time between races.
