I'm not clear where the fear of 'drowning the community' has come from? Have I missed something?

I thought re - homing was a facet of the community that a lot of the community care about.

Is that Josef the Sloughi? I saw him on a rescue board, he looks absolutely adorable - wish I had more space here!

Yes, that's Mr. Josef Sloughi, or, as a friend calls him, King Josef.

He has been living in a home environment and is doing great, by the way.

He looks gorgeous, I hope he gets a home soon - unfortunately I'm out of room here until I get a bigger house!! He's had such a rough time, he deserves a fantastic new home. :luck: (My greyhound came from Ireland and he's scrummy! )

As far as I am aware, Judy and Nigel fund K9 out of their own pockets. Servers and all that technical stuff don't come cheap. I may be wrong, and would be happy to be corrected, but I think if the sight gets massive and has a lot of traffic, it can go down more easily. Rescue sights do get a great deal of hits, and this was my comment about drowning. Also, in order to accomodate a wider audience without dendangering the smooth running of the site, it may be necassary to upgrade the exisiting spec.

Don't misread my comments, as I am a softy like any-one, just wondering about practicalities, especially when there are dedicated rescue sights in existence. I think it is fine as it is with the odd case being hilighted.

Just my opinion and with respect.

As a very irregular poster here I feel a bit cheeky expressing an opinion on this, so I hope nobody will be offended by me joining in this discussion. :b

I would worry that if K9 becomes seen as a place for buying and selling whippet pups it could change the nature of the board and compromise the high standards of breeding and homing the site generally seems to promote. As one of the previous posters said I don't think the internet is generally a good way to sell pups.

I understand that anyone can be let down or have a pup left over for whatever reason but I think it is quite different putting these forward in the 'chat' section, where they will mainly be seen by regular board members. A 'pups for sale' section could become an outlet for less scrupulous breeders and might even encourage them to produce more litters. :(

A rescue section, on the other hand, would be terrific :D
