My friends are planning on a months stay in you lovely country , now would they be better coming in August or October ? . It is an organized trip covering east to west , all the usual sights , but they are undecided about which time of year would be best .

many thanks

I would think it would depend on what part of Australia that they are planning to visit Jax. If they are concidering places like Darwin and Broome, then August would be best. For places like Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmania, then October.

I would think that both August and October would be fine for Queensland.

Hi Jax

It would depend on the weather your friends prefer to travel in. August is colder in Australia (not as cold as the UK though) usually windy and blustery which is unpleasant for sight seeing. September - October is our Spring and the weather fluctuates from high teens to mid 20's.

Western Australia's weather lately has been in the mid 20's and here in Victoria the 18-19 deg. to 24 yesterday. Queensland is around the consistent 24-26 deg.

If I was travelling I'd go with October.

Every month is good for Queensland :p  :D :p :luck:

Crude?? You??? Oh no way.

Starts with a "B", 7 letters ***** & ends in "k"............. Nope, a new word for me. Must be an English thing.

The image of Cartman freezing his B*******k off over in England reminds me of a true story that my Dad told me about when he and his mate did a working holiday in England about 40 years ago. Incidentally dad and his mate grew up in Oonadatta and were real country boys. They were both strong and tough but hadn't had much schooling.

They'd worked in pubs over there but money was drying up big time. When on a tourist trip they read an ad on a noticeboard outside Buckingham Palace calling for applications as Footmen for HRH the Queen. Literacy was a bit of a problem for them both so they were happy to see that the only qualifications needed were a good set of calves and ankles to be shown off at the end of a tartan kilt.

They both applied and scored interviews with HRH. She asked them all the usual questions ie work history, personal attributes, whether they liked corgies etc... HRH was very pleased with their answers and told them that they had made the shortlist.

Dad tells me that HRH then asked them if they could show her their calves- which a little red faced( being country boys) they did. The Queen told them not to be embarrassed as she was a bit of a country girl herself.

Very impressed HRH informed them that everything seemed to be order and that the only thing remaining was for them to show her their testimonials.....

Needless to say they got kicked out of the palace.

To this day Dad tells me that if his English was a bit better he would have got that bloody job :sweating:

Sounds like he did not know his left from his right testimonial.

I think that was a load of B*****ks

:*

And I make my living as an accountant!! (w00t)

Hope they like heat as August was warm this year and September is becoming hot. 30 degrees here today in Sydney. :( Snakes have been on the move for several weeks now.

We're expecting a very hot summer. But off to Melbourne Friday for the specialty we're packing our winter woolies - as usual. :)

As others have posted, temps vary from state to state. We're a BIG country.

I'd probably opt for late August, early September. Lovely days, cool nights.

Cheers

Toni
