i was asked yesterday a question i couldn't answer

so i thought i would ask all you k9ers that breed

how do you get a bitch ready for having pups

she as a 3 year old whippet

now i think her age is ok maybe wrong

spent 2 hours trying to talk her out of it but she wants a litter

and plans to keep 2 pups

i feel that i need to help her so the pups will be nice and strong

as she will be a 1st time breeder

Don't have any advice to give because I've never bred but I think it is lovely that you are listening to your girl :D and care about her being in the best possible health for having a litter

If the bitch is healthy , not overweight she shouldnt need any `help` in having a litter ,get her wormed before she is mated , I dont exercise mine any differently than before , Of course im carefull not to let them get bumped about by other dogs . The extra care needed for the bitch is after the pups come, hhopefully she will have had a trouble free birth . Now for me thats ALWAYS nerve racking , no matter how many times I have a litter ( 10 in over 25 years ) , Her body resources all go to feeding the pups ,So the upkeep of mum is paramount.

The bitch is the right age for a litter
