Hi All,

I don't know much about ped's/non ped's other than they don't have KC or either a pedigree paper (is this right?)

is there a difference between the 2 or does it just come down to no papers?

also non-peds do seem alot more popular than peds from what I've seen (e.g ALOT more matings, pups, champs, studs, etc,)

are they more popular because of the prices? as I'd guess that ped's are more expensive, and how do the prices range on non-peds?

just curious, thanks all

non peds r used more 4 racing whereas peds may be used 4 showing and yes non peds r a lot faster. i think im right in saying that a ped whippet has to be les than a certain height? whereas a non ped whippet can weigh up to 60lb this will obviouly be cross back to a greyhound somewhere so in non peds height doesnt matter. i may be wrong on this.

ah right, I thought they were pure whippets just without the papers, so non-peds are crossed (with anything?) or is it just greys/whippets?

yes most have greyhound in breeding and vary in size. from 16lb up wards but if bred from smaller line you mainly get small pups.but they are just bred for speed not showing.but imo non peds are prettier to

so would my Chance be classed as a non-ped? she's whippet/grey with a small amout of bedlington, or is she just classed as a lurcher? or both?

sorry for all the questions :b

and yes she is a stunner too  as are ALL the non-peds I have seen on here too

if she is smooth coated and looks like a whippet and you had'nt told anyone how she was bred she would pass for a whippet but now everyone knows her breeding she is a lurcher .

why not put a pic on of her :D

I've never had her weighed, but I don't think she's 50lb, I've never raced her so I'm not sure, I wouldn't even have a guess either as I'm rubbish at things like that lol.

Zak is  BTW

she's lovely and looks just like a non- peds so most would class her as a whippet, are you thinking of racing her,?? take her along to a club see what she thinks of the racing ,

I'd love to take her racing she loves chasing bunnies :D I'm always in the racing forums lurking picking up tips etc, the closest one to me is the Ginpit, but our car is off the road at the moment :(

she's 3 in june is this to old for a new dog who's never raced to start??

no i don't think so, and i'm sure the members would help you get her started, and she will love it, you get down to the ginpit when your car feeling better let her watch the racing and see if she like it, before long you will have another pup,

Hi Tina why not take her to Westhoughton Greyhound Stadium on Thursday evening around 7-oclock--- where she would be able to run no matter how she is bred all are made very welcome at this venue terriers lurchers sheepdogs the lot ---and i am sure Vicky will go out of her way to make you feel at home --

I think there was a little whippet x whippet bedlington racing in the sixties

Can't remember its name abet Syko can. ;)

General Racing Rules

Whippets are to be whippet like in appearance and recognisable as a whippet.

I think you should be ok to scratch race it imo
