I have tried to avoid Tess seeing any bunnies for most of her life (well she's only just two) as a year ago she hurt her back and it has been a bit weak since then and thought that the impact of killing might do damage, however she is getting much stronger so we went for a little wander this morning and:

Thanks to Moriarte and her OH it is now skinned sitting in the fridge waiting for me to cook supper.

The girls had the innards, Tess and Josephine thought Christmas had come early but Nana refused to touch it.

well done, theres nothing like your first bunny. what breeding is that dog?

Good to see a dog doing what it was bred for hope you enjoy your stew (at least you"ll know its fresh)

Her father is Paul Cork's Totty and her mother is a 1/2 whippet, 1/4 grey, 1/4 beddie.

She killed it quite cleanly, but crushed the skull in the process.

Well done Tess!!!!!!

I still remember all of my dogs first kills and never fail to be impressed with the speed, agility and instinct our 'pets' have. May this be the first of many.

Have to admit that I've chicken out and given the rabbit to the dogs. I got it out of the fridge to cook it and it was really bruised and bloody and OH refused to eat it- in fact he has gone so far as to cook supper himself to stop me which is a first

If it had of been Josephine there would hve been less of a chance of getting it back, but Tess and Nana have had GIVE ( ) drilled into them from a young age and both have a fairly good idea of BRING too. But both have to be said with some force if they have something 'special' and I gues her first bunny was rather special to Tess. Basically she is an angel and I am exceptionally luck to have her o:) .

That's a shame :( That's why I've never bothered with any we've had, esp. as he usually has a good bite at the stomach by the time I run the 100 yards or so to retrieve it. It would be nice to have a dog that was more biddable sometimes.
