Friday past i set off with my muts for the foreign country of Engerlund...Staindrop which for loads of you who dont know youre own countrys geography is upways on the map and 2 fingers wide away from the north east coast

Got the 1215 to Stranraer then headed down M6 to Penrith then across the A66 Pennines to Brough where i took the Northern Pennine road...pure wilderness but stunning and kinda dreamlike.

Id arranged to stop at a campsite up there but when i seen it i opted to drive on and meet up with the gang already at Raby. Campsite my arse..farmers field with 1 tent in it. You know what they say about farmers and their wives  and they have big barn-like things with giant animals with 4 legs in them  Weirdos !

Dogs were all behaved considering i had an extra one with me...Colts brother Gip. He was being rehomed by one of the NLRC members. Off to a new life in Derbyshire !

I got to Raby early in the evening to glorious sunshine where those Braithwaites from Cumbria were wine tasting. Met a new k9er and his family..Scooter Dack..howdy doody Andy and Mrs Andy

The grounds were spectacular and seemed to go forever, hundreds of Deer roamed free with one pure white Stag amid the herd.

The castle itself was fantastic, i got the dogs lead up and walked around to see it. I sat watching the Deer roaming around the motte on the field across the motte for ages sipping frequently on a fine ale...the water was really still and when i threw my emptys into it they could be seen floating amid the ducks and geese from miles away :-

The next morning Tom and Carol had the Coursing and Striaght Racing up and running from 915AM, thats how to do it folks ! A brilliant uphill track of no shorter than 275yd, the "Course" was a zig-zag swinging out wide to each side before the final 4th gate at the end..perfik !

Heres the pix..
