I'm amazed how little Bluebell eats, she is 2 and a half entire bitch, who at this time of year is only having about an hour and a half exercise each day, but about 3 hours 3 days a week.

She has a combination of road walking, but mostly free running.

She is an only whippet though so unless she meets friends, (most days for short bursts) she only potters with the odd spurt and 20 mins of ball throwing...

For breakfast she has 4 or 5 small dog biscuits and for tea she shares a packet of raw beef with her mate Daisy, who maybe small but eats A LOT!!!

So Blue has just 250 g (8oz!!!) of raw beef, mixed 2 or 3 times a week with a small handful of mixer...

But on this she is not a skinny whippet by any stretch of the imagination!!!

How much do you feed yours...?

IT's amazing how they all vary so much in relation to the amount of food that they require.

Rowan (12 months and no season as of yet) currently is eating 32oz meat plus mixer, plus 7 or 8 small chicken wings per day

Ruby (3 yrs, entire, 1 litter) has about 16oz meat plus mixer and about 3 chicken wings

Frankie - the same as Rowan

Holly (4 yrs, 1 litter, spayed) only 10oz ish plus small amount of mixer

Holly is on the fat side yet gets the most exercise and the least food!!

I've found my girls have put weight on more easily after having their first season. At the moment i could shovel as much food down Rowan as she would eat and she wouldn't get fat. Poor Holly only has to look at a biscuit and puts on a pound! I have to be strict with Ruby in order to maintain her weight.

To add more Citycroft gang details:

Logan and Diego (Both entire, Logi 3, Diego 2) both get either 5 chicken wings, turkey neck or lamb ribs, then 32oz of meat with two handfuls of wholemeal mixer and also goats milk most days. Diego is a right skinny minnie and just will not eat anymore, Logan is in my opinion pretty much spot on. They get primarily free running with in the Winter a few miles road walking per day and a brief run before it gets dark and then good long mooching walks of a weekend.

Rocco eats absolutely incredible amounts of food, he still gets three meals a day, goats milk for his Supper and a lot of exercise although his free running is limited and he still struggles to maintain weight. It is a constant battle to get him well covered.

My word I don't believe what little gorgeous Rowan gets down her neck!! thats about 6 times the amount of Blue (w00t)

I had some that ate heaps and remained ribby until they reached about 18 months and then put on weight. Others who were always well covered and ate only fraction of what the skinny ones ate. They are all exercised together. :)

Bluebelle looks in top condition  what ever you are doing is obviously right, but as she gets older you may have to feed her even less, or she may put on too much weight.

Our two have one chicken wing each for breakfast. Of an evening they each have an 8oz Dr. B's BARF Pattie.

They get a 40 min walk each day and about 4 days a week they get a free run. They also chase each other madly around the yard however many times a day.

At the present they have a little more condition than I would like.

Nockie is 3 and Freddie is 2

Mine get 2 Chicken or Turkey wings each for breakfast and a small handful of biscuits or sometimes sardines.....then Goats milk for afters....

In the evening they each get about 6-8 oz raw meat with a plain mixer and raw veggies.

Kobi is the one in my 3 that needs a little less than the others...hes very greedy though and would eat everyones share and the cats too if he got the chance,

its hard keeping the weight off him, while Archie sometimes needs a little more...he burns up the most energy out of the three of them.

They get 3 walks a day....morning about 30 minutes..

Afternoon anything from 40 minutes to 60/80 minutes most of it free running...and a later evening lead walk in dark nights

but free running again in the light nights.

I’m amazed how much our lot get fed compared to what others are eating – it looks like all our boys are getting 4 x the amount that your boys do Janice. I know they are all different, but as all 5 of our boys eat almost exactly the same amount, I thought it was pretty much the norm for mature dogs.

We won’t need to feel as guilty about Holly’s measly portion anymore; she always looks absolutely disgusted when her bowl is put in front of her!! (w00t)
