Last night, my boy was cuddling Bean on the chair in the lounge. She slipped off his lap and fell funny, (his words) she seems to have hurt her paw.

She wasnt crying and was runing around but holding it up, i had a feel and there doesnt appear to be anything broken, she didnt cry when i touched it.

I put her in the cage till this morning cause i thought she may have just twisted it or sprained it. But when i let her out this morning she is still holding it up, she does put some weight on it when she runs but only very lightly.

I will take her to the vets this morning, but i wondered if there was any advice, on what she may have done.....is there anything i can put on it, should i strap it up??

Im really upset, she has only been here a week....i know its not sams fault but what if she will never run again?????

Poor Bean, her sister send little little puppy whippy licks.

I wouldn't worry too much- I'm sure she'll run again. They're tough resiliant little beasties. If you are very worried I would keep her in her crate so she can't move around too much and put weight on it until she goes to the vet.

If she doesn't cry or flinch when you feel it it hopefully isn't that bad, but a check up is always a good idea to set your mind at rest.

Arnica is good for swelling if it has swollen, but probably just bumped it a bit and is a liitle scared to put it down, a little pain is probably new to poor bean

I remember Jack hurt his foot running around the house he limped for a little while then as soon as he saw his friend over the park he was off like a rocket. I really wouldnt worry he'll be flying around like crazy again soon. When we get the newbies in Feb I'm sure ill be writing some sort of HELP message too, infact after losing Jack I'll probably be worse.

:D

Have you checked her toes and nails Kim it could be that she just knocked one of them so find it a bit painful or that she hasn't got any cuts or anything in her pad, I have found with mine as puppies if they hurt themselves even not a lot they scream their heads off (w00t) drama queens, so I don't think you have a lot to worry about,.

Like Olivia says they are very resiliant but I have also found very good at milking it for all it's worth o:)

But thats just it theres no crying at all.

I have an appointment for 9.40 so will update you after

Yes please let us know how you get on and try not to worry too much I'm sure she'll be fine :luck:

well the vet said nothing is broken  ...and to rest her (w00t) yeah right...

So hopefully it will all be ok.....

Got charged £13.00 for the consultation though :(

Poor little Bean..... if she is playing with it, but not putting it down solidly on the floor, it could very likely be the shoulder area which hurts.

Have you tried standing her up and just gently massaging the shoulder area (going with the lay of the hair) - the massage will get the blood circulating more and help the healing process. Also, it might encourage her to put it down.

Hope she feels better soon... it is horrid when pups hurt themselves and cannot play so much..... fingers and paws crossed for better news soon.

I would think she is rather young to have arnica.. but thats just my opinion.

Good luck.

hubby sent you a post earlier about arnica its fab for bumps, blood clotting, shock and so much more.My friend never leaves home without it!

Thank you for the help......

She is def milking it for all its worth :- "

Good news that all seems to be well :luck:

She may just have slightly strained a tendon or something.

I'm glad it's nothing serious! I would give her Arnica 200c three times a day for a couple of days. It's perfectly safe for young puppies. I'm sure she'll soon be fine :luck:

Glad she's ok, :huggles:

I know how you feel Harley did exactly the same thing when he was 10 weeks old and we rushed him straight up the vets thinking I had broke the dog, but he was crying like a big girl, everyone is right they are drama queens o:)

Had the consultation with the vet and was soon as we had paid £30!!!! he was running round the waiting room like nothing had happened :- " " not that I felt silly at all!! :b

They definitely are much tougher than we think they are my two often slip on the wooden flooring when playing silly buggers in their mad five minute spells, but they now seem to just shake it off..

See you soon
