can we have a title change? that's not 'recommending', it's advertising

Hi Hound and house :)

Nice website- I was especially interested as I offer a dog walking and home boarding service in Cornwall. I never advertise as I prefer to have new customers by word of mouth or by meeting me and my (hopefully well behaved!) doggy customers out on walks.

Just wondered who you are licensed with- as I didnt think this was obligatory- I have good insurance, refs and CRB's... what benefits does licensing provide?

Paula :)

Sorry i also didnt see an advertising section, didnt mean to cause any trouble,

Paula

I am a new business so having to advertise,I am licensed with RMBC animal welfare Id Check with your animal welfare officer at your local council as im sure you need a license under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963

Hi,

I am kind of asking the same question as 'pippywhippet' I run the same business in the midlands. I also am generally operated by word of mouth but do have a website. I am no longer taking on mew clients at the moment any way.

I have insurance and relevant experiance, however, have found on looking in to licencing that there is no licence for what we do. The animal boarding licence stipulates that all animals must be kept in individual 'kennels' with runs exclusive to each kennel or pen. It does list specifics on size and construction.

I know of someone in my area who runs a doggie day care centre, she has a large enclosed paddock and has a large mumber of dogs staying each day, some over night. She thought she was doing the right thing by getting a boarding licence. However, she was then closed down by the council (not sure how long she had the licence for - year or more at least) as she did not keep the animals in the conditions set out by the licence.

What specifics does your licence have?

Thank you Banana.

I am not able to get on here as often as Id like but will try and make my self known to all over time!!! Thanks again. Can't wait for you all to meet Bailey!

Hi sorry for late reply, yes i have to have a license issued from animal welfare via my local council RMBC,i have a yearly inspection and can be spot checked at any time and asked to see records etc,as i understand if anyones dog is coming into your home, and your taking a payment then a license should be sought.

i only board 2 dogs at any one time, but do still need a license,im just about to fill in my renew as the current ends 31/12/12

just had my license renewed for 2013 so taking bookings see website for info and contact me form :flowers:

Hound and house are licenced in Rotherham

Sheffield city council are also clamping down on the mushrooming trade in home boarding, so it is necessary to be licenced in Sheffield too
