Require help to identify my puppys bread please

Hi everyone, I'm newbie to this site I was looking for some help.and advice, regarding my puppy.please any comments will be extremely. Helpful.

I recently brought myself a female puppy, who's now 11weeks old I have had her since she was 8weeks old.

I was told by breader that mum was a full pedigree American bulldog (which I have seen) and dad was an old English bulldog - but I was unable to see the dad at the time.

Within the last 3weeks I have had her, ive been researching, training and bonding with my beautiful puppy. But I have started to do have doubts about the farthers bread as I'm thinking my puppy may be a pitbull. Which is concerning because of the UK LAWS ON BANDED DIG BREADS. I love my puppy to bits and would hate to loose her. I was wondering. If anyone could please help me indentify the true bread of my puppy and also help me understand the UK laws on this issue. Any help on the issue would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Mmmm tricky. It's hard with cross breeds as they can look more like one than the other and you can defiantly see the American bull dog in her but not so much the English and the fact that you couldn't see the dad, makes me see why you would be concerned. However, there are UK laws on keeping banned breeds which could see you in a fair bit of trouble if she is deemed to be a pit bull cross. You can apply for an exception order and stick with various new rules regarding handling in public etc but you have to go to court to do so. If I were you I would get in touch with the breeder immediately and request to see the dad. Also I would request paperwork from the breeder regarding her heritage if you have not already got this.

Her father could be any breed. All, I think, you can do is wait and hope that you never get challenged about her breeding. Just tell them what you were told when you bought her. Make sure you socialise her really well with lots of different people and other kinds of dogs so that trouble in the future is avoided. A well socialised dog is much less likely to come to the attention of the law enforcers.

If you take her to APDT training classes then you can prove that you are a responsible owner which will go a long way in your defence if you should be challenged.
