YESTERDAY we ran a mixed card of scratch racing and graded handicap racing so there was something for all.
We welcomed four visitors from the midlands to the club with their lovely whippets who enjoyed their day with us and remarked favourably about the track which was in superb running condition after all the rain.
John and Sheila's Lulu's Pride made a great start for them in round one after missing her trap to pick up Special Brew close to the line, then doubled up in round two, again in a tight finish. With Our Boy Ace giving his all for a battling win in his first round, their team did them proud on their first outing at the track.
Kooroh also missed her trap first time up but made amends for Vera and David, winning easily in her second race.
Must mention dear little Blithe Spirit who held on gamely from Squashbug in both her races and The Observer another to win two races and seems to be improving in her veteran stage!

Trophy Winners were The Observer and Blackthorn Slippy who share the trophy for six months each and Squashbug who won the Flying Whippet Trophy for Showbred racers. The Observer also took the top veteran award.
