Help! I am new to the forum and to the world of dog shows

I am considering showing my Beagle (1 year old) - I really don't know where to start

- will it be enjoyable for him? or will he just have to sit around in a crate all day?

- what do I have to do?

- someone has suggested ringcraft classes, but how do I find a good one? (Near Newbury (mid-week) or Christchurch (fri-mon))

Any help/advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

Sheila

Yes if you want to show it is best to go to ringcraft classes because not only will they help you with the actual 'art' of showing but should assist with things like filling out entry forms, which class you can enter etc. Unfortunately I am from a different area than Newbury or Christchurch but I am sure someone on K9 can help. I think Oxford Canine Society is too far away. :luck: with your quest.

Thanks - where are the Oxford CS based and on what days are the training... it may not be much further than the Abingdon class!

Not sure where they hold ringcraft but if you contact the secretary i am sure he will help. Alec Mackenzie 01235 814814 :D

Christchurch and New Forest Canine Society have ringcraft classes every Monday night at West Parley Memorial Hall in West Parley (pretty near Christchurch). The first Monday of every month is the members' match, the rest are ring training. I can't remember if start time is 7 or 8 though off the top of my head.

Poole Canine Club has their training at 8pm every Wednesday at Hamworthy Liberal Hall. 2nd Wed of every month is their match night.

pm me if you want some more info about either.
