A few weeks back we noticed two Robins back and forth carring twigs, then discovered there was a nest in the Rucksack under the porch in the back yard, she's sitting on 5 eggs, they may be hatched now, they seem to be keeping guard, a few pics i managed to get this morning, hope to get pics of the chicks...

Wow what amazing shots those are... such an unsual nest site....

Hope they all hatch, and you are able to keep up the vigil as she feeds her young too....that would be brilliant.

What a clever robin

so bright and cheery looking :))

Wow, what brilliant pictures

I've heard a few stories of Robins choosing strange nesting places, but that has to be one of the best (w00t)

Unbeileveable Deidre, you will not be using that rucksack for a while. The robin is so cute standing guard duty. It is supposed to be good luck for a bird to nest under your roof. They can feel a sense of welcome, warmth and security

there. Hope we can see her family soon Deidre. Great photographs

Lovely pictures. Maybe you should think about moving your wheelie bin incase it becomes a lauch pad for a maurading cat?

Fantastic pictures  and what an unusual place to nest. I always love little robins

TTT we have six dogs in the yard, i dont think we will be seeing any cats :D i would be more concerned about the magpies, seen one of them hanging about today  the Robins dont go neat the nest when its there...

The two Robin's left for a few minutes today, so i managed to get a quick pic of the chicks i would guess there about 3 days old, will try and get some more pics when there older, dont want to annoy mum and dad, they are working so hard at feeding and watching them :D

We have Robins nesting in our Yew tree every year, and last year I saw the babies fledge, and threw down suet feed for them. The parents watched as each day the babies came closer and closer to me. After a few days, I almost got one of them to take food from my hand - he wasn't quite brave enough, but got within an inch of my hand, and I let the suet drop for him. They were beautiful, and I hope to see them fledge this year also. Robins and Wrens have to be the best birds ever. We also have Great Tits in the nesting boxes. Keep us updated Deirdre
