Well last week Rosie not eating. Think i.ve sorted that one with better food. Now came home from work to discover largest hole in my mattress she has never done this before so why now. Rosie is a yr old Cavapoo. I always take her for walk in morning before work (i only away 4hrs every day ) she has been ok and just normally sleeps on the bed. She has plenty of toys and chew bones to munch on. My mattress is 3mths old so i.m a bit annoyed and concerned as to why destroy now. I always leave her with a small treat and a "be good".no problems at all in me leaving her never crys or barks until i come home then she will bark or growl at gate opening,ppl walking by. Like shes protecting me. I cant believe shes done this

Oh dear, not good. There could be many reasons why, if she has been off her food maybe she isn't feeling well? How long was she left for?

I would try videoing her while you're away, to work out whether she's digging out of anxiety or just having fun.

Has she always growled or barked when people walk past or use the gate? You could try throwing her a treat when they do so she starts to think if it as a good thing.

My lurcher does this and he is 13 yrs old and has always done it since we adopted him 9 yrs ago ....
Dont let her have access to your bedroom whilst you are not at home

As i say i work from 8am till 12.30 ish so its about 4hrs a day and have been doing these hrs since she was 5nths old. She never shown any signs of anxiety about this
I moved in jan of this yr and she was brill in adapting to new surroundings etc. I think i will just keep bedroom door shut when not home i live in gr fl flat so maybe not allowing her access to my bed might help her. Fingers crossed its a blip

Dont forget as well they go through different stages (just like children )one of mine never chewed anything until he was 2
Just a thought ...has she been neutered yet? ???

Hi Kara1 not been neutered yet hopefully in the next couple wks as vets wont do op until 3 mths after her 1st season

It would be hard to give you a reason without lots of further questions/some idea of the dynamic between you. Although i am intriuged to know if she pulled the sheets back or did she devour those too?
You've already said that you'll be keeping the bedroom door closed but you may want to think about using a frozen kong filled with peanut butter (or other such delights) as an alternative of occupying her whilst you're out.
Like to know how it goes, if neutering does resolve?

We had a female dog that suffered from phantom pregnancies (although not until she was 2 years old). Apart from a loss of appetite, she would nurse one toy and would also try to ‘nest’ by scratching at the floor. She always chose the same spot in one of the bedrooms and did end up making a hole in the carpet. In the end, we decided to have her spayed as it was happening after each season.
