I received a text today from Amanda Peck whom has trained a whippet I bred to amazing feats in agility and jumping and other activities.

Whipridge Pure Silk CD ADM JDM2 JDO2 SPD SD GD ET gained six passes over the weekend at the Royal Launceston show under judges Mr A Schmidt (New South Wales) and Mr M Vigor (Sth Australia). The qualifying scores were gained in Masters Agility, Masters Jumping, Open Jumping, & (agility games): Excellent Gamblers, Excellent Strategic Pairs and Excellent Snookers. It takes great team work between handler and dog to achieve these titles.

Well done Amanda and Flynn, you show the general public that the beautiful whippet breed has both brains and beauty.

What an amazing effort Noelene

Are you able to explain what Excellent Gamblers, Excellent Strategic Pairs and Excellent Snookers are?

Karen

 Noelene

You must be very pleased with Flynn and Amanda's achievements

Hi Karen,

I wish I could achieve what Amanda & Flynn do, my eyes are so bad I can't even read the obstacle number these days 8)

There is quite a bit of explaining with the AGILITY GAMES so I will add a link, it is really quite interesting and becoming very popular.

I only ever competed in Jumping or Agility events where a clear round with no time penalties would be a qualifying score, but if a contact point wasn't touched or a time penalty, knockdown or refusal penalties were incurred you may place in the event but not gain a Q score towards a title.

Hi Schmick,

Too right  I am very proud of their partnership, they are a joy to watch :D

Well done to Flynn and all his family.

I know how much this means to you Noelene and what a great pair they are, I too have seen them go round, well done to you as well.

Will they have the same games at Hobart ???

Thanks Griff, Flynn is now 8 years old so he does well for a veteran.

There are only two Clubs in Tasmania who conduct Agility/Jumping/Games trials, being Tas Dog Training Club Inc in Launceston and Hobart Canine Obedience Club in the south of the State. This means it is usually a long time between drinks to gain Qualifying scores in Tasmania as there are not many competiton trials offered, the really keen competitors travel to the mainland of Australia if they can afford the luxury to add a few more events to their calendar.

Hobart Royal have not offered a Trial, I guess they are limited for space. Their Main Arena k9 highlight this year is a Flyball Display.

Well I guess you are still on cloud 9 after your truly successful win in the Conformation Classes with the Parnew whippets

I have found whippets so willing to learn and please, it makes them such a versatile breed.

I have a little girl that i do a bit of obediance and agility with, though only for fun....though i may give some more thought to going further with it! I didn't think that people did that sort of thing with their whippets here. She seems to really enjoy it in class though.

Wow - Congrats to Amanda and Flynn, excellent achievements.

It's wonderful to be a proud "mother" isn't it Noelene? Congrats to you too! :huggles:

What an achievement !!!

Big congratulations!!!

Whippets can be very good at agility. They certainly are fast

Several pups that I bred are doing obedience with the view of going on to agility, and are doing very well.

I wish I was few years (well lot of years) younger, I would love to have a go with my Callista or Stella. :)

You and me both, wish I was on the left side of that proverbial hill and not over it (w00t)
