Anyone else doing this? I've taken part for the last few years now. But I settled down at 10.00 this morning and didn't spot a single bird in the garden for 15 minutes so I gave up!! :- " This is not normal for our garden so I will have another go tomorrow.

Ive took part in this Gillian before....

shall have another look at the website.

Having said that I refilled my bird feeders today....nuts...seeds etc..

and a big flock of ruddy crows came down and almost pulled them down....so I sent the boys outside... (w00t) :- "

but usually there are smaller species about chaffinches, thrushes, robins and tits,

greenfinches....wrens....

Hi..We have a lot of birds in our garden..Blackbirds, starlings, thrush, robins and finches. We also have magpies but haven`t seen them for a week or two. In the summer we get loads and ducks aswell !!

 Janis

Your taking part in a RSPB watch............and you send the boys

after the birds in your garden.

Yes Anne for the CROWS....they nick all the food...

My bird table blew over 3 times and on the last time it fell apart! (w00t) It just needs a few nails, but I haven't got round to it yet. That makes it difficult to put seed out so I'm limited to birds that like nuts and fat blocks. I did scatter some seed on the ground but forgot it was there and let the boys out ..... Needless to say the seeds are there no longer! :- "

We get the usual great, blue and long-tailed tits, chaffinches, collared doves, and have had a greater spotted woodpecker as well, which is nice to see as it's more unusual. Hope I'm more successful tomorrow.

Have you had the strong winds Gillian, because there never seems to be that many birds about when its like this... :(

we have also had woodpeckers, a few doves and woodpigeons too..

the wrens are my favourites.

It has been a bit windy today and the nut feeder was blowing about quite a bit so you're probably right Janis. :)

We get a lot of sparrows diving into the ivy growing up the front of our house. They often screech across and chunter/chirrup noisely, rustling about for ages. There must be some huge spiders and insects hiding in there; a veritable feast for them.

I'm not sure what the rules are for taking part. I'll have to look them up. I don't need any further encouragement to sit still for an hour staring out of the window....especially if I've got a coffee in one hand :- "

You've only got tomorrow to do it now, Nicola.

Here's a link to the web page with the recording sheet and instructions on (if it works :- " )

I can't see a link on the web site, Janis, but I've only had a quick flip through it so it might still be there.
