This morning Rupert caught ............................................. a crow!!!! (w00t)

Ronan is nearly 6 years old and has been trying to do this for most of his life!! Rupert mostly ignores crows but this one just caught his eye and there you go!

It was quite sad really cos I didn't have time to dispose of the body but when I came back with the girls, the main flock were obviously having a wake for their dead mate.

   sorry ...... Oscar loves crows too and seagulls and chases them before rabbits ... hasnt caught one yet. RIP poor Crow... not that Im much of a fan of them - thieving g......s

I agree Janimal, they are only marginally better than Magpies!!! We have flocks and flocks of them in our fields and they torment the resident Kestrels and big & small Heron (and the white Egrets we get in the winter) unmercilessly!

Yes we have a few herons up this way too and often on our walks I see the CROWS dive-bombing the heron  when hes only trying to fly off with his catch.

Oscar amuses me running headlong into the flock of crows  then running right up the field till they are out of sight.

Yep that is exactly what Ronan does, I say to him "Crows ........Tally ho!" and he looks to see where I am pointing and then off he sprints!! If I haven't got his ball on a rope with me it is a brilliant way of exercising him cos he just loves to run for fun!!

RIP poor crow :- " you wicked wicked dog Rupert (w00t) Stick to the ducks......... far more meat on them :p

How clever is Rupert ;) I'm sorry if that sounds callous, but I loathe carrions they are all hateful!!

They nick the eggs out of the hen house if they get a chance and last summer we had terrible trouble with them trying to kill the chicks  they also thieve the hens food and carry endless diseases that get passed on to the young chicks. So I for one like to see them getting their due!

Think I could borrow Rupert,Dessie?? :teehee:

Rupert is hunting mad! Uses scent as well as sight but is also bright enough to know what is achievable!!

I expect he would like to have a little holiday, he's never been to Ireland! You would probably send him straight back though!!! Bless him!

CORRR,

Frodo is REALLY envious, he HAAAAAAAATES CROWS  He has never caught one, they just seem to know hes hopeless and they just flollop out of reach. If he shut his mouth and used his brain more he may catch one. Mad barking and going from one to another in a frenzy is hardly the best way to catch any :p

Funny thing is, one of my gone dogs Polo was the same, 13 when he passed away and never caught anything in his life :( I think they are quite fast but no brain

Cor Rupert very impressive. Definately something to 'crow' about Dessie

Leia tries to catch crows most days. She chases buzzards too who seem to fly low and tease her.

She did once catch a swallow :( but I think it was more chance than skill. :- "

Well done Rupert  . Mine seem totally unfussed by crows, just walk past them and the crows don't even bother to move. Now bunnies, squirrels etc, well that is a different matter. :- "
