I have just received a sad news; Ocarina = Drahomira Subrtova breeder of Z Vilcabamba whippets from the Czech Republic has passed on after a long battle with cancer.

Oh what a sad new :(

I didn't know Ocarina personally, I just knew her here on K9. She seemed to be a very nice lady.

Oh this is so sad :'(

:( Again I didn't know her appart from on K9, but she seemed such a cheerful friendly person. Wasn't she posting quite recently?

I like others only knew her from K9, thats such sad news :(

R.I.P Ocarina

She was not very well for a long time, but in her last email to me only few days ago she was talking about going to a dog show. I never met Draha either but we communicated by email regularly over the past few years. She had a daughter of my first Whippet, so her dogs also have special significance for me.

I will miss her terribly.

Here is her website

How sad :( thinking of her family and bet those gorgeous dogs will really miss her :huggles:

I remember when her last litter was born and she was looking for names beginning with V :huggles: I bet that litter brought her so much joy in her last months :huggles:

Terribly sad news :( She seemed so nice too on K9.

What a sad loss , to her family and the Whippet world :(

This is so sad :( :( - Ocarina seemed so lovely on K9 and posted such lovely pictures of her 'V' litter - she was obviously very proud of them all  .

Presumably she went downhill very quickly at the end as I remember she was talking about keeping two of the puppies to show. What will happen to her dogs? :( :( I hope she has a lovely family who will keep them for her. :huggles:

Thank you for letting us know, Lida.

That is a shock - I only knew Draha from K9 as well but she always seemed so upbeat and positive, one would have never guessed she was ill. I hope she didn't suffer too much. Peaceful eternal rest Draha.

Sympathies to you Lida - you will be missing your friend.

Very sad news :(
