Sad to report Frankie's brother Sam, owned by Steve and Betty Beaumont has had to have a rear leg amputated :(

Poor little chap - he's home now, the op was done on Tuesday. He'd been tearing around his back garden with a kennel-mate when he hit a stone bird bath and shattered his knee-cap.

Steve and Betty are understandably upset but know that in due course he will adapt and soon be back having a happy life, albeit without any racing.

Good luck Sammy :luck:

Oh poor Sam. Please send Betty and Steve our best wishes for Sam's recovery. These dogs will do these mad things won't they :(

Poor little Sam :( Please also send Betty & Steve our well wishes for a speedy recovery, Naomi & Rob x

Poor Sam, Betty and Steve ..... I know they were both very upset when it happened and having to decide what to do, but Sams a young dog and will learn to live life to the full quickly enough .. as we all say racings just a few dogs running up a field once a week ... :luck: :luck:

I've just spoken to Betty and Steve, and they say Sam is coping amazingly well. He is still very bruised of course, but the other dogs seem to be being gentle with him :huggles: We all know what gentle creatures they can be don't we o:)

Big hugs to Betty, Steve and Sam, who is apparently quite happily trotting about the place and showing signs of adapting really well :) Betty wanted him to be able to run about the garden and its looking good that he'll be able to.

Good luck Sam x

How sad to read of such a freak accident with such serious consequencies. Good luck to the little dog and may the transition from four to three be simple and stress free :luck:

Poor litte fella :huggles:

I spoke with Betty and Steve last night - Sam is doing very well and can jump up on the sofa when he has too (obviously when Betty isn't watching!) He has a return visit to the vet today where they MAY remove some stitches.

They asked me to convey their thanks for all the messages of support and concern.
