remember the other week i was asking about vets fees cos id had my old cat sam in for an op to remove a couple of teeth and he had an abscess?well despite the antibiotics after the op the swelling hasnt gone down.and sams been very miserable today so we popped him back to the vet.its not good news i think. :( theres a large hole in his upper jaw and the vet thinks the reason the swellings not gone down is either its oesteomylitis or a tumour.(cancer)hes given him a shot of antibiotics and has given me some tablets to give him.if the swelling doesnt go down then it will be a biopsy as it is probably a tumour.he said its hard to diagnose cos a tumour and oesteomylitis both show up as a mass on an x ray so its a waste of time doing one.he has to go back next week to be assessed again.fingers crossed :luck: poor sam sat there patiently while my vet dominic poked and prodded around his jaw and it must have been painful.but the old lad didnt even squirm or murmur.i really hope its just a bone infection and can be cleared up,hes such a good boy and has the most gentle and good natured of temperaments :(

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things look better when he is assessed next week :luck:

Sending some healing hugs to Sam and keeping my fingers crossed for the vet visit next week.

thanks everyone , :huggles: yes i am worried, sams never been ill not since the day he arrived here years ago in a cardboard box and we all told hubby that him and his sister had been dumped on the land at the side of our house.(they hadnt but if wed have said can we have two cats that need a home, hed have said no.but if we said two poor little kitties have been dumped here then he was a pushover! o:) the swellings not gone down at all at the moment, but i suppose its too early yet.ill let you know what happens next week when he has to go back to the vets.in the meantime fingers crossed. :luck:
