My Sam had an operation yesterday to amputate one of his toes on his forepaw.

Without boring everybody with the history, setbacks & everything ........ the operation yesterday was a success. We have been back to the vet this morning for a check-up & re-dressing; & he was very pleased. Sam has had most of the toe removed, with the bone just underneath being sawn. It was done this way to give both toes either side some support; then hopefully they won't end up 'crossing-over'. :luck:

This has been a long, long haul. Hopefully, now, we are there & in a couple of weeks Sam will be back to how he was a couple of years ago, zooming around like a nutter, just like a Whippet should. :luck:

 So pleased Sams operation went well, Heres to a complete recovery :luck: :luck:

WE HAD A WHIPPET THAT HAD A TOE REMOVED FROM THE FIRST JOINT AND SHE WAS FINE AND BACK RACING WITHIN 7 WEEKS ...HOPE IT ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU

GET WELL SOON SAM

Aww - I hope that's the end of Sam's sore paw now. it's been a real worry for you hasnt it. :(

Hope he heals quickly and can get back to normal asap.

:luck:

Have you had a look yet? :x

(I couldnt look at Leia's leg while it was being dressed- my feet went numb :clown: )

Good Luck for a quick recovery :luck:  so pleased the op went well. My very first whippet Lady also had part of her toe removed after she pulled a claw almost out - after the op she went on to race and WIN lots of races too.

Thanks everyone :D

Oh yeah! I've looked. I had to this morning whilst it was being re-dressed in case I need to change the dressing before Tuesday (next vet visit)!! It wasn't half as bad as I expected to be honest. I just felt heaps of sympathy for Sam. :huggles:

Alot cleaner than the last operation - this time there was no gunky stuff :x and it's all very cleanly done. I needed to change the dressing around last Xmas time every day :x THAT, I can assure you, was not pleasant! Not for me, nor for Sam!

Glad Sam is on the mend, hope he heals quickly  :luck:
