is there a reason why 99% of northern opens are on saturday,(only lord byron on a sunday)??????????/

the attendances might be better on a sunday.

i dont think fuel at nearly £7 a gallon  helps these days, think folks will hit localish opens ?

i dont tnink it will make any difference imo.some wont travel up our way any day.its always been the same,we travel but they dont and poor scotland dont stand a chance i dont know how they stay open.the price of fuel will make a big difference on how far people travel its down to what you can or cant afford.

we cant get sundays @ wallsend as theres football on. i think theres a few factors the price of fuel, whether u like the track, the format, i think we shud all just enjoy the racing regardless of how many dogs r racing.

the way i see it the top ten must mean nothing to the majority of racers,by the attendance north/notts had compared to dawdan/fordingbridge.

how things have changed i remember when it was the additional opens that had the poor turn out.

I think that is a very good point as the majority of racers probably feel that its not worth chasing top ten points as sadly the 'majority' of racers don't have dogs that would maybe ever get in top ten, so additionals on the doorstep are more inviting than a top ten one miles away. Unless you are in the lucky position of owning one of the dogs that are able to gain top ten points then stay at home racing sadly these days is maybe how it is, gone are the days when you would travel umpteen miles just for a run or to spectate, expenses are outweighing alot of decisions these days

**Just read that back not sure if it makes sense now, but i know what I mean (w00t) **

So far this year its the same old ..as karen said people cannot justify spend x amount of cash traveling to top 10 opens , maybe it would of been wise to only allocate top ten points for big events that way most people have traveled and dogs are not running solos or 2/3 dog racers ..using your region to hold additional opens is working by the look of things ..pick the best track in your region and hold abc racing its starting to prove most people just want to race there dogs at the least cost
