;) WELL SAYING AS WE HAVE STARTED ON ABOUT THIS SUBJECT IN A DIFFERENT POST I THOUGHT ID BRING IT UP AS A NEW TOPIC. SHOULD A DOG THAT IS NOT OVER 40LB BE ALLOWED TO RACE IN THE NO LIMITS? PERSONALLY I THINK NO ALL DOGS SHOULD BE RUN AS WEIGHED AT EVERY OPEN. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION MIND. BUT I DONT THINK ITS FAIR WHEN ANY SIZE DOG CAN RACE AGAINST MINE IN THE NO LIMIT I CANT RACE IN A CLASS BELOW SO WHY SHOULD ANY SIZE DOG BE ABLE TO RACE IN THE NO LIMIT CLASS? I ALSO THINK DOGS OVER 36LB ONLY SHOULD BE ABLE TO RACE IN THE 40LB CLASS. THE 36LB SHOULD BE FOR OVER 32LB TO 36LB. PERSONALLY I WOULDNT RUN A DOG THAT WAS BELOW 40LB IN THE NO LIMIT AS I WOULD BE SCARED WHAT WOULD HAPPEN OVER THE LINE AGAINST DOGS OF 50+ LB. I USED TO HAVE A 40LB ER WHIZZIWIG WHOM I ALWAYS RACED IN THE 40LB WAS ALWAYS AGAINST THE GREAT SON OF A BITCH AND ALWAYS GOT BEAT BUT SO WHAT AT LEAST SHE WAS IN THE CORRECT WEIGHT GROUP. IT IS DIFFERENT IF THERE IS SUPREME SCRATCH BECOZ OBVIOUSLY EVERY SCARTCH RACER WANTS TO WIN THIS. I STILL WORRY ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE SMALLEST DOG OVER THE LINE BUT AS THERE IS NO MORE THAN 3 DOGS WILL BE IN THIS RACE THE DAMAGE WOULD NOT BE AS BAD AS THERE BEING SAY 4 50LB ERS IN WITH A 36LB ER. ALL THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION SO COME ONWHAT IS YOUR OPINION???? :*

:D mmm does nobody have an opinion on this topic? Maybe all the scratch racers havent yet read it. :p

Carole i agree with you as i asked at the weigh in on Saturday if it was run as weighed, not once but twice and i got told it was run as weighed. When i got my program i noticed at least 2 dogs which were down as a 40lb and one in the no limit which i know were not over 35 1/4 lb and not over 40 1/4lb respectively. As i did not want my dog Chevron Express setting dogs up so i was forced to stay in my weight group of up to 30 lb as my dog weighed in at 29lb.So were does run as weighed come into it or is it a case if your face fits.

well sherry i think dogs that are upto 36lb should run all in after all the open weight limit stops at 32lb.......dogs then over 36lb should be allowed to run in the 40lb .....but no limit is as it says no limit.......and you would think that people would only race their dogs in this group if they can't race them in the lower groups........ so what exactly does

 NO LIMIT mean ?????????

well said Andy.........

could you please tell me where if any where in the rule book, where it states what no limit is .whether your dog is 16lb or 50lb there is not a limit.

ricky

:p yes pat technically no limit means exactly that no limit which at the minute means anyone can run in that weight group. Maybe the title should be changed to over 40lbs.I wasnt meaning that Ricky as personally I think ALL dogs should be run as weighed in every open. I dont think its fair that my dog cannot race in the 40lb scratch but a 40lb dog can race in the no limits. Like I say maybe the title needs to be changed. This is just my opinion mind I would like to hear everyone elses  .

i mated her with master blaster lol :D

I always understood No Limit ment that there wasnt a class weight to acommidate for the weight of the No Limit . So everything over 40lb should be classed as No Limit the If everyone thinks so strongly about 30plus going into the No Limit and 40lb it should be brought up at everyones general meetings to decide what can be done. Challenger is the first No Limit dog ive had so im not to uptodate on what people think But I wouldnt like a 30 plus runing against him as he goes in for the rag so hard i would be scared the smaller dog got hurt. Woody

thats what im always worried about joyce over the line. When u eventualy get the video off me have a look at mickey whizz, no surrender and challenger over the line. All 3 are rag dogs and Mickey Whizz is sandwiched between the other two. Thing is I know he is big enough to take this. Luckily Whisper Whizz dont go in for the rag that hard (yet)

:p

many moons ago when i 1st started your club racing round here was a 21inch dog limit in height, regardless of weight anything over this could not run at the club.open racing anything over the weight over 32lb whether over 36, 40, or what ever was classed as a no limit. the 1st official weight limit for scratch racing was the fed which put a weight class up to 35lb .anything over this was a no limit. that was in 1977.In 1986 they introduced a 40lb class with the fed.not sure about B.W.R.A but was at a later date ,.

 :D intersesting ricky so at one time anything over 32lb would be classed as a no limit then? Am I right? Were there as many bigger dogs about then? Who introduced the 40lb 36lb etc? Does anybody know? Did the person have a bigger dog and wanted to race against dogs of the same size? I find this very interseting as I havent been racing that long myself. Does anybody know ? thanks

Was Saturdays weigh in run as weighed or not,as i have been to opens in the past where run as weighed is if your dog is not over 40 1/4lb you can not go in the no limit, and the same if your dog is not over 35 1/4lb you can not go in the 40lb scratch. :b :b

:( andy it dint say in whipp news run as weighed and I remeber richie (previous owner of simpson) saying it wasnt last year so i think not.

When i was weighing my dogs in i asked a certain person on the scales twice if it was run as weighed and he replied yes,and i have witnesses who heard it. ;) ;)

It was not run as weighed.

Show Three won 40lb and 32lb bitch weight class.

Tony

So why was i forced to stay in the 30lb yearling dogs when my dog weighed in at 29lb as i wanted to go in the 35lb class when he could have ran of the front as it was his first open race.

We were also under the impression that the meeting was 'run as weighed' it most certainly was whichever class you were entered into you remained for the consolation.

Carole-we agree entirely with you-the dogs should be put in whatever class their weight states and not be allowed to swop and change in order to avoid certain dogs, gain points, prize money or whatever.

No-one with a 20lb dog is allowed to run in the 16lb class-and with all the controversy at the minute about 'dogs getting bigger' some approaching 70lb- who in their right mind would even consider putting a smaller dog in with such dogs.

I remember your concerns (Joyce) is it? at Coxlodge when a small youngster was put into the No Limit with the Challenger-and we said at the time to you 'Why should you have to withdraw?' because you were worried.

:( WELL I THINK ITS DOWN TO WHAT COMES FIRST THE PRIZE EG POINTS OR THE WELFARE OF YOUR DOG :(
