Hello,
We have recently acquired a retired eight year old racing greyhound from retirement kennels, he is very "laid back" and making a wonderfull companion and pet.
(my wife suffers from vascular dementia and this has given her an additional interest......I think the dog understands her problems)
We like to take the dog with us when we go out (although he is very good when left at home)
We have a dog cage in the back of the car but this is a bit restrictive for the dog, when he is inside it...... I would like to get rid of the dog cage and let the dog have the full use of the area behind the back seats of the car............. my question is..... what is the best way of securing the dog so that he wont jump out, when the rear car door is opened, and that he will not get tangled up if secured with a long lead.
It would be helpful if anyone could give me advice or tell me how they cope with this problem.
