Hi,

My friends have been camping at Selby gamefair for a number of years.

They normally pay £30 for the four days.

She has been in touch with Manor Lurcher club today, and has been told that they are no longer able to camp with the Lurcher club, and that the cost is now £120 for the four days.It is something to do with liability, and health and safety. She is all packed and ready to go,and is a little upset that she cannot camp with the Lurcher club. She has also rang Selby Gamefairs, and they have said the same thing.

I have put this post on just so people are aware.

Hi Becki,

I really felt for my friend. It is lot of money. She has two kids as well,so will make it an expensive 4 days for her.Part of the enjoyment for her has been mingling with the club.

Can i just point out that it WASNT the Manor Lurcher Club who said that you couldn't camp with us. I spoke to the lady earlier, and gave her a number to telephone. That number was for someone from the game fair. The lady wrongly thought that it was another member of the lurcher club. I explained that to her when she contacted me later. Camping and entry fees is nothing to do with me or anyone else in the club!!!

£120 looks like another way 2 get rid of us Lurcher people camping at the shows.

u shore wont see me there.

Hi,

The lady in question has since joined k9,i think she will be interested to read this !!

Weather or not it is nothing to do with the club,i think the campers should have been told that things have changed, and that the costs have increasedI do not camp,so it does not effect me,but i am sure you appreciate that when people turn up and are not expecting the £120,it will reflect on your club.I am a big Manor Lurcher club fan,and have done nothing but support your shows on k9.You do a great job.

Why exactly should it reflect on the club if the game fair has decided to change the camping arrangements? I did nothing but try and help the lady who rang. I rang the game fair, explained to them, rang her back and told her the situation and offered her the number. The lady then rang back later, asked for the number and rang him herself. Then she rang me again to say that he was in a meeting, but that she had also spoken to someone else, and they had discussed the camping. I didnt even know how much it was to camp before this post, and i still couldn't tell you how much it is to get in. I just can't see how this is anything to do with us? I have never been to selby (kelmarsh weekend) and the first i knew of anything changing was the phone call yesterday, otherwise we could have posted something sooner. But, like i said before, we organise lurchers. Not gate money or parking or camping. All we can try and do is pass on your comments and try to help to sort things out where we can. That's what i tried to do in this case.
