Our little Ripples keeps shivering!

I trimmed her coat on Friday evening and ever since she keeps shivering!

I dont think it is cold when she does it and she does stop when the kids wrap her up in a blanket or their tops, but she does seem to be doing it a lot but not all of the time?

She seems to do it more when you pick her up but dont snuggle her in?

Any ideas?

It's FREEZING here! The floor is colder and draughtier than anywhere else in the house, and she has less coat than she's acclimatised to. If she's expecting a warm snuggle that doesn't come, she'll probably 'feel' cold too

I was lay on our lounge floor the other evening and had to get up after 10 mins as i was cold, ive started putting blankets over all the dogs at bed time lol, you should see our bedroom , its like a kids dormatory all tucked up with blankets and pillows ( god im a softy )

She doesnt shiver so much until you pick he up in your arms?

Has she got a skin irritation after the trimming?

I don't think so - its like a weird pent up shivering?

the brindle in my avater does shiver at times indoors, but also mine does it close to his tea time lol lots pf people say dogs dont feel it but cum on they must do, so i always try and keep them warm this time of year,

A really stoic dog in pain will shiver. Is it possible she's pulled a muscle somewhere? The fact it happens more when you pick her up, but then stops when you snuggle her in could point toward a pain response. Some pains go away when pressure is applied.

It could be nothing. She could be cold with the change in weather. It also just occurred to me that maybe she was always shivery but it wasn't noticable in full coat?

Some breeds and dogs are just shivery.

But for peace of mind it may be worth investigating injury. Is there any other change?

before forking out on a vet check all the usual signs. Is she eating ok, is her nose wet, is her pooh the right consistency.

It might just be that she has to get acclimatised to the loss of fur or that she found that she got more attention when the scissors were cutting her fur. My dog gets actively jealous when i cut the spaniel but he is a staffi cross and I still have to pretend to give him a hair cut lol

Also as some one said before she might have always done this you just did not noticed till she was trimmed.

good luck. I personally would wait a while before taking her to the vets, give her a blanket to snuggle into or even a nice warm coat. see if that makes a difference

if you can afford it and want peace of mind then go but i wouldnt just yet, like double r said just check the dog out and keep ur eye on her, im sure it be ok.
