I was just looking at a site and seen a IG for sale £2000 she was beautiful but the price :(

Nothing surprises me any more when people will pay £700 for a cross breed, ie labradoodles. A lurcher which is a cross breed is sensibly priced and very carefully bred, as opposed to the jump on the bandwagon money makers!

she would be beautiful as she is my olivers litter sister.

But I can see the value of a labradoodle, they can be bright, very trainable and non-shedding.

My brother is deaf, he chooses not to have a hearing dog because of his life style, but they can be hugely beneficial to other people who need them, any type of dog that ticks the right boxes, in my mind, is worth their weight in gold

But £2000 for an IG?

I think you may have unintentionally opened up a discussion which has been covered several times already and can get quite heated.

Your point is a valid one but please don't let this thread descend into a slanging fest.

Judy I know this subject has been dealt with previously with lots of high emotion and angst but in fairness any puppy selling at this price would bring attention it is just that the Iggie people are more vocal than others in trying to protect the breed. That said there has also been no need either for those who do want to populate the world with Iggies for what ever reason to infer that Iggie people are stuck up etc.etc and dont want "other people " to have their precious iggies.

My back ground firmly started with racing greyhounds and Lurchers. I then rescued a whippet and my love of whippets evolved. Then I went to a show and saw my first Italian which was Mabellines Robin. I instantly fell in love with the breed but I had to wait 2 years for a puppy to come along. I never expected an instant puppy to appear just because I wanted one. I was so proud the first day I got my puppy. I didnt immediately think wow I want everyone to have one of these. In 13 years I have bred 6 litters. These puppies have been sold for between £250 and £400. The quality of homes I have found is more of a reward than the money. Stuck up I dont think so, A Lady I aint :D but neither do I try to portray myself as something I am not

To date I have read no valid arguments to justify the £2000 price tag. I think people are genuinely intrigued and I know I certainly am as to how a breeder came about asking such a high price when the breed itself sells for under £1000 and that is the top end of the price range. Perhaps the breeders supporters on here could tell us but please keep it sane and not use this as an oppurtunity to slag off others on the board. I think that is more than reasonable dont you?

The top ETT kennel (and I mean winning groups and being placed in groups at Crufts) are only selling puppies for £850 and ETTs are on the list of British breeds that are supposedly endangered.

I was looking at a website yesterday that makes a £2000 price tag appear even more bizarre. Breeds that have previously been fetching upwards of £1000 are now being advertised for between £395 and £495.

Judy if this turns in to a Slag fest then it should be closed down. It is supposed to be discussion board having said that anyone who wants to argue about any of the above please feel free to PM me direct so the pleasure of the board is not taken away from others.

I see no problem with it as a topic for sensible discussion as long as it is kept general and no one makes posts aimed at individuals because that's when the fighting starts so as Jan has said - its a discussion board so please keep it sane

Remeber...'Tis better to report a post that breaks the rules rather than break the rules yourselves with your replies. I'm actually very sorry that I feel the need to say it :(

 didn't mean to start argument i was just shocked at the price :b

This K9 community is becoming pathetic.

People should be free to write whatever they wish on any given topic.

I know of many people that have stopped using the forum because it is just so censored.

When i have read threads that have eventually been taken off they were the most informative postsd on here.

Peoples views are what matters wether heated or not.

You spoil it

If people want to show themselves up by being rude or ignorant let them so we all can work out what they are like for ourselves.

what right do you have of censoring things as if we are children.

I too will soon be off I think

Well i think you've just shown yourself up as such, by posting this on an innocent thread

if posts are within the board rules there will be no problem, but some members are intent on using k9 to air personal greivances which will not be tollerated.

I think you will find that this forum has been a much more pleasant place without the trouble makers. Your post is suggesting that informative posts have been removed - well if they broke the board rules as well as being informative, then yes, they would have been removed.

You have obviously been stewing on this for a few days, and posted in the early hours. If you don't like the way K9 community is run, then why visit at all?

Our aim here is for a happy community, for people who love their dogs. We welcome constructive, and informative posts, but not posts that are personal, and break the board rules

imo :- " if you dont like the way k9 is run......why do you bother to come on here

seems to me this is another post to stir things up again :(

I think perhaps as this thread has run it's course, and is now off topic, it might be a good idea to close it. There is a complaints procedure if you do not like the way K9 is being run - and I think that would be better to use that, than trying to cause bad feeling in public
