OK- because people may find themselves in this position can I be clear?

You would be gathering evidence here of what a reasonable person might believe to be mistreatment of an animal in this case. And yes some filming is illegal: inside a nuclear power station or the changing room at Next, for instance. Joking aside I think it's a huge personal safety issue though. Be sure you are in a safe place with people around you and/ a companion or have a safe refuge before filming a potentially hostile person. Animal abusers tend to be human abusers too.
