who thinks we need drug testing and can we afford to do it right

Definatley yes --- but the samples should be litmus tested for abnormal or foreign substances ====if present then send it off for analysis ---but then anyone guilty of using ---make the penalty fit the crime -- no soft options by do gooders!! and stick to the RULES .

steve

who would do the litmus testing steve  my point is do it properly or not at all :- "

we should keep testing, its an expence we can ill aford but it needs to be done and done properly

SIMPLE ANSWER - we can't afford to do it properly and test for the real stimulants, so imo why bother, just wasting money the main bodies could put to better use, more advertising of the sport and gaining more interest for instance.

Don't know about be litmus testing as i once took a puppy that was weeing alot to vets and the used a litmus paper to see if she had protein in her urine, so simple ailments might show silly levels up

i have to agree with vicky on the subject in another 10 yearsthere will be 50 dogs at champs not 100 so whats the point.

with petrol prices going up and vet prices getting no lower i do not think it will be around in ten years andy.+ all the other things that are going on in the sport

If those who are cheating and most folk who run straight know who they are ---as they themselves do also ----Whippet racing needs to finish now ---not in ten or even five years --- if those with dogs can not be trusted to run as a sport/ hobby whats the point of even running????

steve

Can not see the point in cheating to win a plastic trophy ( that if its been returned) and a £10 if your lucky. After all its not just people drug there dogs to cheat, i heard there was another incident with someone lifting there catch up on there trap, so to try and gain a fast box at the Mondays open at the champs...were will it ever end.

If you have done the work, your dogs right , he or she gives you 100%.... if your dog wins its a bonus, as long as you and your dog enjoys themselves.

you heard right Dee and it was spotted and corrected so it didn,t work for him that time

Drug testing is a detterent, but like i said in another thread the cheats are not bothering with easily detected substances , but are using methods which are harder to detect.[ so i say drug testing is a waste of time &money.]

hi its chris not ants i think you should have drug testing as if some people will cheat i think you should try to catch them. But cant beleave what anyone would get out of it as they surely must know they never really won fair just my thoughts CHRIS

I couldn't agree more - does no one see that people clued up can use a million & one things that wont show up in the current mickey mouse tests, so no-one is actually being detered from doing it if they wanted to.

The only way to be sure that all substances are found during testing would be to use a experienced sports testing lab.

I dont think you could go past HFL they are accredited for forensic testing for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the UK Jockey Club, and the National Greyhound Racing Club.

heres a link to there website hfl

I think it's also more a case of paying for a full analysis rather than the cheapest test they do

We would have to use the same test as they use for National Grey Hound Race Club.

A bit i have read on the ngrc site about bitch surpressents

25th January 2005 bitch surpressents

Beggers belief that some people would give their dogs something other than hard work and good snap to get them to win ?? I think drug testing should be done but it should be done randamly :- " at all opens ! that way people, who ever they are will not know when their dogs will be tested...... That to me is a deterant :teehee:

if poeple give drugs to enhance there dogs ability,to win.what will they feel like . no achievement in that. being a cheat.anyway everybody knows within 1 or 2 dogs what will win the classes. we are not running for £1000,s whats the point.

while we are on the subject of cheats,at abc meetings if someone does not use a kick board in there first heat they should not be allowed to use one all day,you see it and some people who win week in week out.just can not stand to loose .

VERY SAD PEOPLE .even to using someone elses board, making an excuse they forgot theres.doing this could cause injury to the dog.the dogs come first in our house in every way. a win is a bonus to me. we go to compete and enjoy not to win.
