Hi everyone,

I was hoping for some unbiased advice from dog lovers....I have a fab dog Jessie, 12 y.o collie x....she is the best dog in the world but when out walking she obssesses on other dogs. She will lie down as soon as they get near, get that staring look and then not hear anything I say, she is led by her tummy(!) but wont even look at treats as a distraction when another dog is near....if I stop for a chat, she lies there, staring then she starts shaking. I find this distressing as I hate my dog to be upset. We did have another dog but sadly I had to have her put down 6 years ago.....they got on brilliantly and had great games together....this behaviour started when Meg went....I have been wanting to get a puppy but am unsure of whether its gonna be a good idea....please help!! All advice gratefully received

Is that not a normal collie behaviour to lie down and "stalk" other dogs/people/sheep anything really! I only know two border collies and they do this.

Personally I would not get another dog if my dog was 12 years old I would not like there twilight years to be annoyed by a bouncy puppy.

But I do know other people who swear their older dogs get a new lease of life when a puppy joins the home.

It is a very personal thing and only you know your dog and what she would like, Good Luck xxxx
