I was wondering if i should do the lure at our show on 28th of this month,as im running my own pup's.Problem is,there is no one else down here with much experience,and we had a discussion last night in our house,as to whether or not it would be looked upon as fair,with my own pup's racing.This was just summit that came up,in planning.The point being,that if summit went wrong,in the race,which is doubtful but not unheard of,as anything can happen at any time,would the finger be pointed at me,if say my pup was coming 2nd,and the lure packed in or summit.Well you know how people can take thing's and bend them.The way thing's have went all year,we dont want any mishap's,and because it's our first show we want it done right,as the lad's have gone to quite an expence for trophies n stuff ,out of their own pocket's,and are taking nothing back.Because of this,i will not be running my pup, or pup's in anything other than a puppy race.Unfair i know,but this was the decision we came to.I would like feedback on what you're thought's are about lure driver's racing their own dog's at lurcher show's.As i am judging,my pup's will be pissed off,spending all day on lead's with very little exercise and will probibly be in the box most of the day,so i might not even take them.View's would be appreciated,as i know other people who do the lure driving ,and still run their own dog's.With the big one comming up a week later,my pup's could do with the experience of running with strange dog's.When this statement was put to me last night,i was slightly taken aback,that someone would think i would slow ,or speed the lure up,to suit myself.But it came about ,because of what happened at the All Ireland circus.

hmmmmm a toughy there billy!! why not train a 2nd lure driver? always good to have a 2ndr just in case of other problems in another area that you may need to deal with? let them then lure drive on the puppy race ? i wouldnt certainly think twice about taking the dogs if you wont be able to have them out much at all? but if they are able to be there and on leads then all good experience for them? hope it all works out well for you and look forwards to seeing the event in pics :thumbsup:

I'm with Posh Totty;

Train someone else up between now and then and have them do the lure for your pups race; you could then do it for the rest of the races.

do the lure mate if people think ur going 2 cheat, let them think that but as u know if u do cheat (which i dont think u would) u dont get nothing out of it coz if u win fair it means more.

im sure ur pups will run good. good luck.

Joe
