hope this is the right place where to post this...

I am not really familiar with the UK showing world (I am European :p the FCI rules seem to be a bit different).

so just a couple questions - do I have to join a breed club?

how do I go about entering a show, registering, etc.

and can anyone recommend ringcraft classes in London out of personal experience? I have found two near my area, but still have time to look.

thank you :)

I know the Whippet Club include 2 magazines per year with your annual membership. The mag is always an interesting read.

I know North Eastern Whippet Society send their members a newsletter but how often I don't know.

The South West Whippet Club have just started sending their members a Newsletter which is very interesting. Again I don't know how often these are sent out.

The South Yorkshire Whippet Club give their members a RESULTS BOOK which is just fantastic. It contain the results of all the Championship show from the previous year. It also contains critiques from the judge concered for each show also. It really is a must.

Good luck finding a ringcraft class.

which one is closer to the South East?

sorry to be such a pain, it's all new to me

I would think that Midland WHippet club would be your nearest.

Hope to see you at some shows in the near future

The Whippet Club is the senior breed club and although it is a national club, the Members' and Open shows are nearest London - The Ch show is usually near Coventry. If your whippet is registered in another country you either need an ATC (authority to compete) from the Kennel Club here or to re-register it here if you are resident in the UK. The Kennel Club website gives all info and forms to download. When you have done that, you need to subscribe to a dog paper - probably Dog World if you are based in the south, for notices of forthcoming shows. Then you either write/ring the secretary for a schedule/entry form or check with Highams Press or Fosse Data websites to see if you can enter online.

There is also National Whippet Association which holds its Open & Championship shows at venues within easy access of both M3/M25 so I would have said closer to London than any other club! They also have a website you can look at.

the National Whippet Association's website doesn't work  , tried checking them out earlier

I joined a certain breed club hoping to get news, information etc. I didn't get an acknowledgement of my subscription and neither did I receive a catalogue of their open show which was some time after I will have been on the membership list. I have since found they don't do a newsletter or anything similar so just feel I have wasted my money.
