on-going listing includes greyhounds, lurchers and occasionally whippets

http://www.celticanimallifeline.com/dog_ad...le-dogs/bracken

Bracken, fawn looks whippety but thicker coated. about a year old. Owners emigrated and he is with a Co Wicklow rescue

http://www.celticanimallifeline.com/dog_adoption

Chloe - whippetx pup http://dogsindistress.org/blog/?p=2307

(I saw her photo on one of the www.irishanimals.ie pages I think. She was just listed as a crossbred and I thought she looked whippety. On this page she is described as a whippet-cross). Another pup at this site, Tilly, is described as a whippet-collie cross but I don't think she looks very whippet-like. She does sound like a very good dog and she's already had some obedience training.

Lady - Athlone, http://www.aspca.ie/rehome_dogs.shtml a whippetx, longer hair than pure

whippet, also Chloe 9 mo greyhound-whippet cross (not the same Chloe as above)

absurdly low prices: http://www.gads.ie/animalsireland/8026/dogs/whippet

Found

Small male black whippet type, in poor condition, was straying around Grove Street area, Roscrea, during April 2009.

Currently in the care of Roscrea SPCA Contact Caroline 087 790 9064 or Jon 087 238 6464

some greyhounds and beautiful saluki cross lurchers are listed at

http://www.clareanimalwelfare.net/html/adoption_-_dogs.html

http://www.dogactionwelfaregroup.ie/greyhoundadopt.html

lots of greyhounds and Keely (also listed at www.irishanimals.ie) who is probably at least half whippet and closer to whippet size

Walter whippet at Meath dog pound is still listed on the web but I think he's either been rehomed or moved to a rescue

I enquired about Walter but he's been rehomed.

Keely in Cork looks gorgeous but, it seems my fences aren't high enough!

Still looking but in no rush.

Walter and Phoebe at Meath pound are both now listed on the Co Meath pound website under "success stories" as being rehomed as are some of the other sighthounds previously mentioned

Not to far away, in Drogheda (Co Louth, north of Dublin)) Inky, black greyhound type bitch surrended by owner is looking for a home. "Inky is very friendly and affectionate, approx. 2-3 years old and she is fully vaccinated and neutered. She is great with people, other dogs and even cats! She is house-trained, good on the lead and loves going in the car.

Inky is a gentle, affectionate and ideal pet and companion."

many sighthounds in Drogheda are sent to Sweden for rehoming.

if you are looking for a rescued dog in Ireland it's always worth checking http://www.irishanimals.ie The greyhound section includes lurchers and sometimes whippets.

Co Meath pound has yet another whippet (well this one appears to be a whippet cross and quite small). A brindle dog named Joe, ref 563

http://www.meath.ie/LocalAuthorities/Envir...DogPound-Meath/

There is also a black whippet bitch at Ashton pound, Co Meath (I believe there are a couple of enquiries about "Jade" but she is still listed on the website http://dogsindistress.org/blog/?p=2440 ). Both Joe and Jade are said to have nice quiet temperaments

silkyhaired fawn male lurcher, 1-2 yr old

Abby - lurcher, looks whippety but post doesn't say what height she is

http://petsireland.invisionzone.com/index....c=72918&hl=

(now listed as "out and safe" which usually means that funding has been secured for transfer to boarding kennels pending a place in a rescue - so they are still in need of homes)

Hi,

I'm off up to Meath to see if 'Joe' is still available.

Rang yesterday but no reply (they're closed Wednesday)

So, Paula and I are off up to see if he will make a good best friend for her.

Wish us luck.

Karen

Hi all,

Just back from the dog pound in Meath.

Joe or Marco as he is now called is home with us.

He is a small brindle male whippet x. I reckon he is about 6/8 months old.

I will post some pictures on Paula's blog when I get chance.

He travelled like a little lamb in the car (2 hours) and is now charging around the garden with Paula.

Looking forward to seeing some pic of marco. I love a happy ending :) :luck:

that's great news about Marco/Joe -- I've seen the photos in the whippet section

http://www.irishanimals.ie/corkkerry_homes.html

currently lists several greyhounds and lurchers (as well as non-sighthounds), 2 yr old fawn whippet Suki "Poor Suki is very nervous at the moment and is only learning to trust people. She is a very gentle dog so would need a quiet home where her confidence will grow

CONTACT:Cork Dog Action Welfare Group (086-3457488)" and 9 month old Pru, a less whippety cross with great temperament - good with children and even with cats

Sasha and Lady are still listed at the ASPCA website (see link at my message of 28 Oct) and the DSPCA (link with same message) still lists Tommy, Da Vinci and Snickers. "Labrador cross" Dubh looks quite lurchery in the photo , Bram is described as a greyhound/German shepherd cross and Ray a lurcher puppy

Paddy terrier cross with quite a whippety look about him

http://www.irishanimals.ie/wicklow_homes.html

Paddy is a very young medium size dog. He has a bit of lurcher and terrier in him. He is affectionate, friendly and full of fun. Paddy gets on very well and loves to play with older children - 7 years + and he also gets on very well with other dogs. He is happy to travel in a car and is house trained and well behaved in the home. Paddy is neutered. He will need a home where someone is there during the daytime and where he will live as one of the family.

CONTACT:Animal Rescue Dublin (01 2895284)

They also have a nice, well-behaved fawn greyhound dog, Diesel and Wendy, very much a whippety type, white with fawn, ok to live with cats
